Advice on 911T for sale

Post by Ant22 »

Dear Forum, I have been planning a Targa acquisition but there is a vice nice 911T coupe for sale & to my not very knowledgeable perspective looks to be in very sound condition. I would very much appreciate the analysis of the experts here as maybe this is heart plus head!

So now a curve ball ...
There is a 911E which seems in far less of a condition, but does 911E out perform 911T that it would be worth taking the less sorted E & sorting over time?

Many thanks!

Hi Anthony.
I know the 'T' for sale, it's owner is Rich, known as Flybe on here I think. I remember looking around it at CLM in 2010
Rich knows his 911's so I expect any work done has been carried out to a high standard.
I'm sorry but I don't know the other car.
The only advice I can give is to buy the best car you can afford and if new to 911's get it independently inspected for piece of mind.
Regards
Matt

Advice on 911T for sale

All the work on the T has been done by well respected people so it is probably good - ask roger bray as he did the sills what he thought of it
Rich is a pro pilot I think - used to fly Hercules when I met him

Sorry took me a while to see this thread! The T is still for sale and as i said in my email Ant, its best to speak to Alan at Canford as he did most of the nitty gritty work. Tuthills put a new oil tank and the anti roll bars on as when the car was at Alans i could not source the bars etc. Alan has also seen the E thats for sale at Cleevewood Garage.
On a plus side, i have made a few new friends through advertising the car, one of which lives 1/2 a mile away, runs a 67 S in HSCC, is restoring a 2.2S from a shell and also does other racing!
Matt, now that i am in cheltenham, am i midlands enough to meet up with you guys?!! :bounce:

Hi Rich, I picked the phone up to text you about the thread but got sidetracked

Would love to catch up, are you still flying?

Matt,
Still flying but doing it properly now on the Boeing 747-400. I am around alot in august so maybe we can try and meet up. I have been meaning to drive down and see Darren65's work on his E. Now that the sun has finally come out it might be time to start organising.
I missed CLM this time due to a wedding in Scotland that i couldn't get out of. Hoping to make Classic Spa and Castle H in Sep though. Cheers Rich

2-3 weeks onwards would be a good time, should be finished and ready for fitting up by then :)

If you're meeting up with Matt at some point would love to tag along if it's not a private party, Nigel also said he'd be up for a beer at some point.

The T looks like a bargain BTW, very nice indeed - fancy a 993 in swap

Cheers,

Darren, you have the bug bad enough already- a full rebuild, another waiting and a 993, could you really justify another car! 2-3 weeks sounds about right, I will PM Matt unless he pops up here to meet up near you so we can see the ongoing work! I'll liaise with Nige nearer the time.
Just took the T to Dom Delaneys to get the geometry sorted. Seems like a very nice guy with a great set up! Cheers Rich
