I know the feeling Pete - I gave up on the hope of getting mine ready for CLM 2012 a long while ago, just hope I make 2014

It's the end result that counts and yours is looking pretty perfect 8)

Thanks chaps :)

I am still toying with the idea of CLM, just think I better leave it for another couple of weeks before booking anything.

I have been back over to Tuthills today to check on progress and I have to say the cars made a big step forward.

Although we have found a fairly significant snag - the near side wing is an SC unit which has been modified, very well, to fit the car. Therefore, we are now looking for an original wing. The one fitted has no rot, and has been been done very well but I just want it to be right so we may have a delay heading our way unless I can get my hands on a good wing quickly. anyone know of a 1973 MY, 1972 NS wing in good condition for sale?

You will see from the pics the wing closing plates have been replaced, the area around the battery boxes has been repaired and the doors shuts completed plus the offisde door reskinned.

The car is being prepped for paint:

Nipped over to Tuthills this morning and we are into paint

The shell is painted, and they are now painting the panels ready to fit next week. I took some pics in the paont booth but they did not come out at all so no point in posting. The quality of finish is exactly what I was looking for so all seems to be heading in the right direction.

The hick up with the wrong wing was resolved quickly last week with another wing being sourced.

The engine tin work is all ready to be fitted - they are just waiting for a new cowell to come in which needs to be fitted first.

I may have the car back the week after next :)

Glad all is going well & look forward to seeing some cool photos.

Well done.

Hopefully I think my 912 Targa is sitting in the queue behind your car :)

Neil, you will be pleased to hear that my car now has wings and doors on, bumpers on and lights being fitted this afternoon. The wheels are back from refurb and the engine tinwork is being finished to get the engine back in early next week.

With luck and a following wind, I will see my car back next week, so yours should be coming along now :)

Clearly, this is only stage one of a long process. This part has covered the bodywork. Next winter will be me doing the interior and if money allows the suspension components. So for those worrying this is all moving to fast, just think about this as the opening chapter of a nice book :) Everything else will be done by me which will take me back about 20 years to the first 911 targa I restored :)

Well the car is complete in terms of the work Tuthill are doing. Weather permitting, I should be collecting it on Wednesday, but if its lashing it down it will have to wait.

That will be the lot in terms of work this summer apart from a few odds and ends. I will then work on the interior next winter all being well.

Please, please let it be dry Wednesday :)

Well the baby is back from Tuthill's - all bodywork restoration complete, wheels returned back to original finish and engine tinwork/ pipework/ linkages all restored.

Looks very nice IMO. Big grin on the way home :)

Next winter I will set about the interior, but for now just want to enjoy it.

Bit short of pics today as it just started to rain as I got home and I didn't want to get it dirty to quickly :)

I seem to have developed two slight issues in the restoration process:
1) One of the back brakes is binding slightly when the car warms up so thats a bit of work that needs sorting soon.
2) The wind noise around the passenger door which was never great seems to be horrendous now so I need to have a tinker with that.

Apart from that all good.
