hi there, am mulling over what I think could be an interesting 914 project...hoping you guys can give me some advice...
1. how easy / expensive is it to source GT arches?
2. is fitting a 2.7 engine more or less a drop in conversion or do loads of other bits need changing / chassis need chopping about?
3. does a 73 914 that currently has a 1.7 engine, use a 915 box?
cheers Dan

some thickie questions from a 911 owner
1: easy to source from few suppliers but cost varies (grp or steel?)
3: the gearbox is based on a 901 although I think from recent posts some internals are 911 type.
2: fitting a six requires a few parts (eg oil tank). Kits are available (£££)

it's a lot more involved (and time / money intensive) than it initially sounds!
if you are thinking of buying a conversion - look for one that someone else has spent the money on (or if you have the ££ buy an original 6, it will always be worth more.)

Re: some thickie questions from a 911 owner
Because the engine being fitted is bigger than a 2.4, an external oil cooler will be required.
The tried and tested place to fit this is at the front of the 914.
There are lots of parts required to do the six conversion properly, the parts are expensive and a lot of work involved fitting them.
If you are using a 915 gearbox, a new gear change linkage will be required.
