Site Development

Post by Darren65 »

New to DDK, great site, very user friendly, great topics and gradually finding my way around.

Regarding future site development a suggestion maybe for those who knows those that do......

When going through some of the older threads that have multiple (multiple, multiple, multiple!) pages - it would be helpful to have the ability to actually chose the page number you wish to jump to?

If this is already possible, excuse my ignorance and please advise how.

Many thanks,
Darren

There is a 'goto page' device top left on threads with multiple pages

Thanks but this only seems to show the first and last three pages of a thread - how do you get to the middle of a thread with 158 pages quickly without having to scroll through?

Click on 3, then 4 etc. Sorry not ideal but it's how the software works. Few threads are that long anyway and usually demand a read to make sense of them anyway.

Look at that address bar of your browser, the last number indicates the page, page 1 is 0, page 2 is 15,.........page 101 is 1500. Manually change this number and hit return - easy mental arithmatic or use a calculator.

Relies on DDK members being able to count though!

Thanks for the fix......I think!

I was thinking something a tad simpler such as small box by 'Go to page...' where you can enter a number manually, even if there were several page numbers listed start and end rather than 3 you could jump in chunks.

When using JohnMs (excellent) restoration thread as a reference, currently 18 pages, it obviously takes a little time to get to the middle and I know i'll dip into this on a regular basis.

Obviously no big issue as things are fine as they are, maybe something for the tekkies if doing development work although i'm told 'simple' things can take days or weeks of work.

For now i'll get the calculator out and start counting :)
