Must have been an option because the T box in 1970 was the 911/00 four speed.sdelan wrote:Evening All -IanMcLeod wrote:That's a type 911 five speed gearbox as fitted to a 1970 911 E or S. Quite a rare box to see for sale.
Ian.
Presumably they were an Option on the T then - mine has the full 5.

Would any wise person know if this would bolt straight into a '66/'67 911 including the shifter and clutch mechanism ?
Would it bolt straight up to a '69 2.0 as well as a 1970 2.2 that I assume it was first sold with ?
Generally I'm curious what changed from the 901 to 911 gearbox numbers ? and excluding gear ratios differenes are they interchangeable in terms of application ?

It is not a straightforward swap (but can be done) - the main difference between the 901 & 911 transmissions is that the 901 uses a 'push' type clutch whereas the 911 transmission utilises a 'pull' type clutch.
