Marketplace discussions 1967 RS rep

Post by Nick Moss »

as suggested elsewhere, here's one to get us going:

Will someone please point out which bit recreates a 2.7RS apart from the ducktail? And how do you get 343bhp from 3 litres?

I think the clue is in the registration number (phonetically speaking) ...

What a waste of a '67... if indeed it is.

After all, was the high level brake light an option in 1967? Seems like a very expensive add on...

Or has someone dropped a 964 (LWB) shell on it?

2006 would be when it was first registered in the UK - it was imported

It has an impact bumper dash with airvents to the left of the dash so does this mean its been converted from LHD to RHD too?

I'd rather save £20K and get this one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1969-PORSCHE-911- ... 286.c0.m14 Actually, I wouldn't. I'd buy this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1003253.htm despite it being a targa and having impact bumpers. Could always backdate it I suppose... I'll get me coat.

1979 SC Targa - Long term project - in storage - purchased 10/16 - last looked at it in 08/18..
Fascinated with 911 seats and induction systems!

Previously
1973 911T in Gulf Blue (with 2.4E ITB's, EFI and EDIS) - from 07 till 16. Sorely missed.

Where either the records for the car were lost during the computerisation in the 80's and the car was off the road, being put back on the road recently OR it was exported and then re-imported.

If a copy of the V55/5 can be found (and Jeff Moyes at AFN Guildford used to have many of the old ones) then this can be changed.

my first job was building race engines for TWR; we were getting around 330bhp from a 2 litre n/a engine. if this has been built as a track car then i would think 350 from a 3 litre would be possible?

the car is terrible though; looks like someone started out building a 964RS rep. then found a ducktail somewhere and fitted that.. very strange!

At a guess with DOHC and 16 valves and possible fuel injection? And, as you say, a race engine, not very suitable for a road car. I think Tuthills claim to get 300 bhp from a 3.0 with Jenvey throttle bodies, 348 is a whole lot more!

fair point re: fuel injection, although slide-throttles, 20v/DOHC
having said that, 330bhp was with some pretty restrictive intake orifices fitted as required by the rules..

that 911 was built "as an ultimate track car" so I assumed it would be in a fairly lairy state of tune; I dont think 110bhp/litre is out of this world for a well set-up n/a engine on large enough carbs with the right cams, high-enough engine speed, etc. and it does say peak-power is produced at 8000rpm which points to it being pretty peaky

either way its a weird car and I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole regardless of how pretty it looks in maritime blue!
