912 in 1965
Thank you for the link to the website. All really good information.
My quest is to find period competition history for the 912 model.
Most competition for this model was in the later part of the 1960's
The 912 was homologated on 1st August 1965.
My question is; Did a 912 ever compete Internationally during the year 1965 ?
Any ideas ?
Cheers, Jim.

I don't remember seeing any mention of 912's competing in International races in '65 or '66 - the Factory was concentrating on the 904's or 911's (plus the 906 towards the end of this period) & most privateers were still using their highly-developed 356's (often the 4-cam Carreras).
The only International competition history of a 912 that I can think of is Sobieslav Zasada's Polish rally-winning 912 in 1967 :

Hi Andy.
Yes - quite agree with your comments.
Good picture too.
I found information of three Italian 356SC cars even competing in the World Sportscar Championship in the Targa Florio as late as 1969.

My reason for trying to find any 912 participation is to confirm thier eligibilty for FIA HTP papers for period F. (1962-1965)
In principle, cars should be of a type which competed Internationally in that period.
It was quite an expensive exercise to homologate a car at that time.
A 912 was homologated in 1965 . . . . . . but why ?
Maybe only because Porche could afford it - and they could ?
Cheers,
Jim.
