Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
Good weekend hillclimbing in the Lola, but Clive broke his Empire race car on Saturday, and returned on Sunday with this, a Bib Block Ford 427 Cobre. Certainly brightened up the paddock, sound was unreal: https://i.postimg.cc/50qHtx4H/IMG-2186.jpg And to top it off in another part of the paddock The...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
If your 1/4" drive has a 'wobble' end to it, the smaller socket and that feature will make life much better and ensure you nip the parts together evenly.

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
I replaced those nuts with K type nuts, flanged at one end, but M6 / 10mm AF. This allows a smaller socket on a 1/4" entention etc to do them up etc. on the LOLA carb manifolds where I have less space than you! They are copper plated too so resistant to corrosion, even cheap for a special faste...

Re: tuning a 911 with PMO Carbs
Possibly of interest, but this is my 3.2 on the last rolling road run when it was about 10 miles old, absolutely fresh engine, so we were careful.
Please turn the sound up when watching, but the car drives like the engine sounds.

Re: tuning a 911 with PMO Carbs
Cold start is a bit of a churning slog. By this I mean pump the throttle hard a few times and turn it over and keep tying for about 10 secs. It will catch but is hard to keep it running, but soon it will be consistent inside of a minute. When fully warm it is very drivable. It also hot starts thrott...

Re: tuning a 911 with PMO Carbs
I have a hot 3.2 on big PMO 50mm carbs, twin plug etc. For the final tune I used a very local RR who deal with about everything 4 wheeled, modern to classics. They are in Dudley West Midlands, so no good for you. Bainbridge would be a great choice i think. Many are put off by PMO carbs, but one they...

Re: Can you guess what it is yet?
That is a lot of work! Looked and posted my reply last night, but seems out of order, operator error i expect. Get that other sill done! Shim number all depends on the belt when new or when 'run-in' and a bit stretched. Must admit I've never needed to re shim a new belt from installation to renewal,...

Re: What’s this hole for?
Personally, I like leaving these 'bits' around an old car, all part of it's story.
