Re: '73 T wiper function questions
Thanks to Sean for the clearer explanation. Graham as already said that connection to pin 53 causes no movement but 53b does . I've already suggested that he disconnect the ground from pin 5 as it is shorting the motor feed. He said the relay no longer fired when the ground was disconnected, but I'm...

Re: '73 T wiper function questions
That's a shame.
I suspect the relay requires a permanent ground at pin 5 in order for the onboard timer circuitry to run.
Oh well I tried

Re: '73 T wiper function questions
Hi Graham, OK I will bite and try to help. I must admit on your earlier posts, I briefly looked into this and thought to myself 'I'm not sure that relay is going to work for you' - but thought I would bide my time to see if it did work. Firstly the wiring diagrams I have for a '72 car are really awf...

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Hi Graham, I hope I am not leading you astray as I don't have an MFI car only a CSI and the implementation is different. However after a little googling, the wiring diagrams seem to show a relay is used to control the solenoid for the cold starting unit. The thermo time switch grounds the coil of th...

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
I can give you my understanding of how the thermo timewitch works from observations from my CIS car. Obviously you have a MFI car but I think the timeswitch is the same ( or at least performs the same function ). The timeswitch is made up of two elements. Firstly there is a bimetallic switch between...

Re: When to change oil on the aircooled flat 6's?
I would say that if when the engine was last run it was up to temperature when switched off - then as much of the contaminants will have returned to the pickup sump as there would be if you were to run the car up to temperature again. I would imagine that the reasoning behind changing oil when it is...
