Re: 67 912 my own take

I guess that you've seen this picture of a SWB with 7 x 15" Torq Thrusts? I think that this was running 185/70s https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49717372783_e2da7ffe5f_c.jpg Yep got that pic. That’s good to know, I will try the Pirelli 185/70 on one and see what it’s like. Only a cool £1k f...

Re: 67 912 my own take

I have some very original and worn out CN36’s on the cookie cutters, was planning on swapping one over to trial fit. Will let you know, but that of course won’t happen until can get to a tyre place. Wish we had bought our own tyre machine.

Yours is one of the cars I have saved in my bank of cars running Porsche Pattern Torques for inspiration. It’s awesome mate, love it! 60 profile could work, what make and model tyre is it?

Re: 67 912 my own take

I decided I couldn’t live with the black on the rear end, but I also didn’t want to do it ivory, as my car is already multiple shades of it and I like the look of some mismatched panels. So I painted the decklid in a shade of Grey from the VW colour charts as I had some, then thought I really like t...

Re: 67 912 my own take

So part collecting wise I now have almost everything for the car to go back together. Found a set of correct early headlights from a friend. After having fitted some later yellow lens glass to convert the ones I had to RHD. So those came back out and the early sloping glass sealed beam units went in...

Re: 67 912 my own take

Didn’t come from Steve, got these ones from the French Riviera. The ones from Steve would have been easier as I know him anyway :)

Re: 67 912 my own take

So as I said, I started by just collecting parts. So, a complete engine was one of the first things. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200330/f4ef943a7feb2ea1a37b5cf745f5683b.jpg Hooked up to the 901 5 speed box to try it out, it’s a runner :) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200330/a5cb80bede8da...

Re: 67 912 my own take

My plan is to build it as a bit of a race/911R inspired build, but with a full interior for now. I want to somehow figure out how to get a child seat in the back. As this will be our only aircooled for the family until my VW Squareback project is also finished. I don’t intend on building a replica o...

I will look forward to learning/seeing more about your 912. Mysterious looking shop it came from.

Best, John

It came from part of a very large collection, from a well known guy who is no longer with us unfortunately, it was all being sold off. Mine was one of the last ones out.

Re: 67 912 my own take

Got it back to our unit and just started collecting parts that were missing, thought I’d just focus on getting everything together before properly starting on it, as had other things going on outside of cars, as well as another Mercedes I was getting on the road first. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.c...
