I think that calculation is wrong.
More like 35mpg for petrol (and 43mpg for diesel at £2/litre).
Most modern cars will beat those figures.
Obviously electric is much cheaper if you charge at home on a 'deal' from your supplier.

Just the opposite James (hot66)! The LH/RH threads are so the pedals unscrew if the pedal bearings seize, so it doesn't snap your ankle! An early mod to improve the headlights AND reduce the load passing through the ignition switch was to introduce a couple of relays. Power to the lights was direct from the battery or alternator and the relays were energised via the existing headlight wiring, thus reducing the load on the ignition sw...
