Re: 912 sound insulation

now that is interesting! wonder was it an option that could be ordered or maybe done at a dealer? mine also has factory paint underneath where i have removed it so far. so if done by an owner looks like it was done early in its life.

Re: 912 sound insulation

thanks guys, must have been done by a past owner, but they sure put a lot of effort into it! would have been quiet as a church inside.

912 sound insulation

I have a LWB 912 shell that I have started to scrape and poke and prod to find the rusty areas. Inside the car around the floor and seat pans, parcel shelf, inner rear wings under the window is lots of sound deadning which is like a bitumen based sheet. It is a way more extensive than i have seen on...

Re: 1972 Simca 1501 Estate

I filled the tank and did the short 20 mile drive to the Hook ferry. all was going well and the Simca was driving pretty good, no radio in it, so just listen to the engine. heater was pretty good and thinking this might be OK. I did have to wait long for the ferry and was not busy, so soon was guide...

Re: 1972 Simca 1501 Estate

As a follow on to my Simca above, I have ended up with another one! When I got the RHD featured above, I started looking at ads etc... finding out more about Simca and also looking for parts and I found an ad for a Simca being sold in Delft, Holland on Auto Scout back in July last year. I pass throu...

Re: Reproduction Door Pockets

Hi Thomas,
Are you still doing this excellent refurb work on door pockets? I have a set of front pockets that have had speakers cut into them and would be keen to get them repaired.
Thanks! Eddie

Re: Back in beige

My Dad was a builder/roofer and these modernist type of houses were like gold to him with constant repair, with leaky flat roofs, rotten wooden walls and general poor materials that did not last. The design intent was good and looked well when new, but the materials used were just not up to the job....

Re: 1972 Simca 1501 Estate

Hi Andy,

Yes poor old Simca cars were nearly as common as a Ford or BL offering... but now basically extinct... that is why I bought it, felt sorry for it.

Would love a Simca Bertone Coupe, great alternative to a 911!

Re: car search anyone own this

the Tangerine 2.2T was for sale back in August 2002 in C&SC around London when I was looking to buy a 911...and I lived in London then. I called and got an answering machine and left a message. Also in C&SC was a yellow 1973 2.4E in Blackpool, rang up about it and talked with the owner a rea...

Re: 1972 Simca 1501 Estate

Hi Mitch, Yes the table is a bit of a gimmick, quite heavy to haul out and use, so probably not get used much... I like the dash in it, sporty intentions...along with the spots in the front grille. Nice that you have memories of one, these cars are almost extinct, even in France. The Simca 1100 rear...

1972 Simca 1501 Estate

Felt sorry for this on Ebay about a year ago and now feel sorry for myself! Was in a container for 32 years with loads of stuff stored on top of it... looks rough and it is! But mostly surface rust and dents except the front wings which are the Simcas big failing.... Tidy inside after it was cleaned...
