Andrew To help you on your way; 1. Your are right - 911 shafts are about 3" too short 2. 911/914 splines are different 3. 914/6 and early 911 stubs are the same To use a 914 shaft with a 911 stub axle you need a different CV joint. They are available off the shelf (I seem to recall it was a VW ...

You can also remove the barrel, insert the key and file down the pegs - a bit Heath Robinson but it works!

I concur re the cost - it can be pretty horrific but it is not an obvernight conversion and at the end of it you will have a car that you will never want to sell (starts to make sense then). If you have an accountant's mind ant are concerned about burning money, the Gantspeed 4 to 6 conversion is up...

I always thought thet SC with K-Jet couldn't be fitted in with out cutting -but this guys managed it some how. Hmm - mysterious lack pf vacuum pipe and a disconnected injector line hanging down in the photo.... A 6" x 4" hole did it, and need to modify the lid slightly so it shuts (even af...

I will let you know on Tuesday if a 3.0SC / 914 is the right combination when we fire it up  There are a few other things on top of Ian's list to consider; 1. If running CIS (as I am) you need to cut off the engine lid lock and mount, plus that funny hoop on the back edge of the engine bay (nev...

All Would like them by the beginning of October ideally, ready for the winter rebuild (or continuation of last winter's rebuild unless I get my car back soon  ) For rockers, I don't really see the point in delaying the order - Barrie Martin made my GT rockers (and Ian M's) in fibreglass with a ...

Drive shaft / CV upgrade

All As you know I intend using 911 drive shafts (68-72) for my car in readiness for the SC engine. I have now determined by what I have ordered, how to make it work which may be of use to some of you. Whichever of the number of options you go down it looks as though new driveshafts are required beca...

Andrew 69-73 stub axles go into 914 rear wheel bearings - that is what is on my car. Curiously I remember that the box also had 924/944 part numbers, so they may well work with the 944 stub axles too. Using the 911 parts with 911 discs also allows you to retro fit a 911 handbrake assembly over the s...
