Ah Peter, I've done the cam covers. And the gaskets. Heart sinking. One question, and you'll be good man to tell me, as your oil plumbing is the same as mine (external oil filler, you know what I mean!)... There is (on mine at least) an uncapped pipe, about an inch long, just behind the oil filter i...

Well. my 2.4E is smoking too. Pulls strong, and isn't drinking oil too fast, but sitting at the lights when the wind changes and engulfs the car in a blue cloud is something I could do without! I'd guessed valve guides and piston rings, so have got quotes in for the top end rebuild... The quotes are...

Really enjoyed the evening - thanks Viv, organiser extraordinaire! Good to meet the crowd, let's hope for balmier weather for the next one. And don't we all look great in the photos - my camera managed one dodgy shot and then the battery promptly died. Tim, John - as for that sedate, low rev return ...

Decal preservation

Now this may sound like an extreme geek question, but I reckon if it does, I'm probably in good company here when it comes to the details on our cars, right!? My 72 still has the original Weltmeister decal in the rear quarterlight, but it's looking dry and ready to start cracking up. Back when I sta...

alarming

I want to get an immobiliser fitted to my 911 and, dull question aimed at the SW London collective,
can anyone suggest a decent place in whom I can place my trust to do the work neatly and efficiently?

I could roll up at just any old installers, but if there's someone good out there...

Thanks!

On this topic, I've been told that there's a firm out there taking much more modern radios as a basis,
then fitting them with with replica Frankfurt fronts.

Sounds like an ideal approach to me... but I've searched on the web, to no avail.

Anyone else heard of this?

Peter, I'm driving my car down on the Friday. I booked just before new year with Speedferries. Cost was £50, I think: 11h15 Fri 17th June Dover - Boulogne 0h30 Monday 20th Boulogne - Dover Maybe we can get a SW London - Le Mans - SW London convoy organised! Meanwhile, can anyone confirm the rumour t...

Nick, There are loads of sites with advice from a race-goers point of view, but a good starting point (with loads of links) is www.maisonblanche.co.uk I've been going regularly for a while (cars, not bikes!), but 2005 will be the first year at the wheel of my own early 911 :P My advice re campsites,...
