free tickets for HSCC Cadwell this weekend
After a shockingly bad mechanical start to the Ridgway race season the two of us ended up with two buggered engines and one buggered gearbox (plus a number of other more minor problems) and 4 race laps between us, so with only 2 weeks between the first two meetings we have abandoned Cadwell this wee...

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Stole a couple of mins to have a look and that's helped a lot thanks. I have a feeling that on the engine change we've tried to drive the squirter solenoid directly off the TTS, but now that I can see that it drives a relay to then drive the solenoid (which is all present in the car) I should be abl...

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Thanks Andrew, that makes sense. As a supplementary question. how should the squirter solenoid be wired? Is it W to the solenoid connection with the body to earth? If so that doesn't give enough volts for it to activate.

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Hopefully there are still people with the patience to follow this and help as I have been diagnosing further but still stuck. Here is a snippet from the wiring diagram that I think is right for the installation... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52821735913_2595fce30f_n.jpg It shows the thermal ...

Re: Cloud Storage: Over the limit.
I think so. Just a thought, but I think it's advisable to know what you are storing where. Specifically things you value and need not to lose. If you are using onedrive for that, then if you click on the onedrive symbol and choose settings you can look at what you are backing up there. Losing valua...

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
I've had a little look. The switch with the engine cold is closed circuit at 0 ohms so that's a good start. One of the wires goes to the solenoid on top of the fuel filter console so that's a good start. The other wire goes to earth which puzzles me as I expected it to go to a switched positive eff...

Re: Installing a gear knob crush washer
I failed in mine. The hole in the knob is to big and floppy. Didn't work at all. I do dislike a floppy knob!

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
I think I am a bit punch drunk on links! I've got a wiring diagram which I'll track through. On first glance it looks to have the compoanents on that I can see on my engine. Need to look at it afresh tomorrow!

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
I can see why that would be a good idea with the switches being £260. I need an hour or two on it to check exactly what's what as cold start takes an age, so I'd love to fix it.

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Would anyone know the parameters of the thermal switch? At what temp does it go open circuit?

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
To bump this to the top, I'm still trying to work out how the fuel control mechanisms work for the 1973 2.4S install. What I think I have is: 1 squirters - fuel is fed from the top of the filter housing to the squirters for cold start. 12v comes from the starter feed, goes through the temp switch in...

Re: Cost to paint a hardtop?
I think that hard tops on a convertible are a retrograde step! It basically means you'll never be able to take the top down again, even if you get the bestest most wonderful weather. Each to their own though!

Re: How does the thermal timeswitch work
Mind you, is it a timeswitch? When the temp is low enough, the squirters are activated from the starter circuit, so when it cranks? Or only for a certain time when it cranks?
