Re: The DDK Nationals

Curborough sounds a good shout, and a VSCC event could provide good entertainment. I haven’t put a slide rule over the relative distances between north and south contingents though. No doubt anyone feeling hard done by will voice their feelings.

Re: The DDK Nationals

The only issue with the Scramble is that its a ticket event that sells out quickly, so you may not get everyone there, and unless we could get a dedicated parking area, people are going to be all over the place meaning actually meeting up is more difficult. What about an air museum? As an example t...

Re: The DDK Nationals

The next Bicester Scramble ( if you haven’t been they’re huge - so plenty to see, do and eat) is on Sunday April 21st. Tickets still available. The car park is huge and we could easily all park and meet if we do a simple bit of pre-plotting. Graham and I met up there last year. I regularly make the ...

Still got one. Had it 23 years. ‘Fast’ and lovely. And I discovered 911’s - and it still stayed with us.

Re: The Life Cycle of a 356A

Yes Roy, I remember our Goodwood Breakfast raid very well - we figured the only way to get parked up together was to meet up beforehand at a local supermarket car park and go in in convoy. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240203/2d1b5995a8a971969964cea5fc91a1e9.jpeg We drove close together so we d...

Re: The Life Cycle of a 356A

The 356 sold last night on BaT for $159,356 before fees. I think that’s around $10,000 less than the new owner paid for it a couple of years ago - but he’s had a lot of enjoyment in the meantime.

Re: The Life Cycle of a 356A

Indeed - it is/was a lovely car Jb. And I’m glad you enjoyed the restoration videos. Actually they’ve just put up what they call a ‘tribute video’ to the car on the BaT posting for its auction sale. It’s one of the best BaT driving videos I’ve seen. Actually it made me proud, and sad at the same tim...

Re: The Life Cycle of a 356A

Thanks James. One day I may edit the whole story - it got pretty tense at times as we scrabbled around to find the money to fund the restoration. In the end, my mother, belatedly, saved the day. She had Alzheimer’s and used to live in a nursing home, but loved it when I used to pick her up and take ...

The Life Cycle of a 356A

Those of you who knew my 356A may remember that I sold it to Williams Crawford, and eventually (I think when Liz Truss crashed the pound in 2022) it sold to America, bizarrely back to Illinois, where it had originally lived in its first home in 1959. Well the new owner has had some fun with it, but ...

356A Super Chrome Hub Caps

Clearing out - I’ve found 3 of Roger Bray supplied 356 hub caps that used to be on my 356A. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240117/8fb434e0a2aaba223a78519b35895776.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240117/8bf8cda74e59373a8a8b74e587d6035d.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240117/319056d7...
