When I get the dash top installed I can then fit the door seals which will be great. Couple of pics that Garry just sent over; https://live...

Re: VW Type 25 Engine rebuild recommendations
I would recommend Jason at Aircooled Hut, found him and the team to be helpful, explains everything, including problems, solutions and costs. Just a practical guy.

Re: Help cant find correct discs for my 944/ KG Arse.
Thanks Bruce,
Will try to find some dimension online for the 944 1986 turbo disc bell.
The boxster disc idea sounds interesting which year would I be looking for?

Help cant find correct discs for my 944/ KG Arse.
Any help greatly appreciated. Trying to find the correct fitting rear brake disc is a nightmare. Using parts that fit together rather than from a know single donor car. The rear hubs fit the VW 1303 drive shafts early 944 part 477501065 and the calipers are Porsche 1988 944 Turbo S2 Brembo rear cali...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
What a fantastic CLM. We including the pocket rocket 356 made it there and back and the 30 minutes of lap time, its an amazing circuit compared to any others I have driven. Slight problem with the dynamo which did not like the lights on full and wipers on constantly for the 3 1/2 hours down to the t...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
So its been a frustrating few days. Got to the point at 4:30 pm yesterday and had reached the conclusion that just not going to CLM. Deffo a low point. The flywheel guy kept quoting the wrong part number for the clutch diaphragm. Fortunately another trip to PRS and Paul, Mark and Clare managed to pu...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
Clutch wows continue. Seems to be the flywheel depth has been machined wrong for the pressure plate and disc. Need to check
So early tomorrow morning one last trip to PRS for standard 180 mm flywheel / clutch and disc and hope that works.

Re: 356A Coupe restro
Thanks for the comments everyone. Still working long hours get to the car finished enough to go to CLM. We had problems with the new weber 40 carbs. One side just did not work. Mixing and matching left and right parts and finally running on all four. However, when pulling into second engine just did...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
After a very slow progress day yesterday with multiple electrical faults, I really did think CLM was going to be 50/50 chance of going. Today was a very good day. With the exception of the gauges all electrical faults have been fixed. :) Still loads of adjusting work but convinced will make it! 1st ...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
Good news and not so good news. Engine wired and fluids topped up. First turn of the key - nothing, completely dead! Checked the battery, starter connection and earths. Turns out to be a faulty ignition switch :( . Hot wire with a screw driver and the engine burst into life. Sounds very loud but won...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
Hi Roy, The flywheel was machined to accept the 200 mm vw type 1 diaphragm which works with the 356B release bearing. I previously ran the 180 mm type 1 and got some slip so hopefully this will stop any. It was an old clutch plate so that may have been the real problem. Ran out of time to get the en...
