Or buy a Jag XJS - because they're basically the same thing (floorpan, engine, gearbox etc.) for a tenth the price.

Re: Aston Martin V8

Bangkok ain't that far for a chap in an 'air conditioned Aston Martin Martin, for an Aston it might as well be the same distance as Mars! The aircon will give up the ghost within ten minutes and the thing will be over boiling within twenty. I speak from bitter and expensive experience here  P

Re: Aston Martin V8

I wouldn't say they're unloved - POW spec and Vantage Oscar India spec cars can fetch huge money. Series 3 and AMV8 are catching up. But yes, they are cheap compared to DB's (not the 7's and 9's). To drive? They are not a sports car  More a 'sporting' car - they waft and have loads of torque fr...

935, 700 bhp, Laguna Seca

Early on, it looks like he checking the turn in understeer (cold tyres) and is catching power oversteer on most corners :) That's what happens on cold slicks with reliance on mechanical grip not aerodynamic downforce  it's a phenomenon familiar to most drivers of vehicles with the majority's o...

Need netbook or tablet - recommendations ??

I don`t have an ipad but think I might like one. I do have a 14" Vaio which I use for all my computer needs. It seems to me, the one advantage any laptop has over the ipad is you can place the laptop on a desk or balance it on you lap, tilt the screen to suit and use both hands.... (one to typ...

+1 - no it's not the only game in town as Graham points out but it IS the only one where everything comes pre-installed, has the biggest range of third party software and just 'works'.

Re: Carrera RS 2.7 40th Anniversary World Event

Just checked the website and you're right. That clashes exactly with the German RS event. Hedingham it is then! I've just remembered that when I last saw Fred last year, he mentioned he wanted to do something special for the 40th anniversary. Whether he's going to bother given the German club thing...

Carrera RS 2.7 40th Anniversary World Event

All very good points Bert, and of course an event in Yorkshire would be for the "eee/ bah and gum" naturlich yah? In all seriousness, Barrie's photos of a 70's event do seem a lot more enjoyable than having people pick over my car and say what isn't correct (because of course they wo...

Re: Carrera RS 2.7 40th Anniversary World Event

I'm sure there are enough RS owners on DDK to organise their own '40th' meet / drive ;) ..... at I'm sure a fraction of the cost of this 'worldwide' one Don't think we'd quite manage 80 RS' on the banking at Millbrook (or Brooklands come to think of it) Then again, wouldn't a DDK national mee...

Re: Carrera RS 2.7 40th Anniversary World Event

Unless I'm missing something, they're wanting €1,000 for a driver and passenger for the three days - which doesn't appear to include hotels!

Makes PCGB events look positively cheap!

Ex DDK car for sale

Yes this was mine, then to Mick and then to Helen I think. I had Darren at Aircooled Performance (on James' recommendation) put a 'warm' motor in after the original gave up the ghost. I also sourced a new set of steelies for her. Could you build this car for 16k? Not a chance. The trim is all origin...
