Greg, some super photo's there. That metal guy who started all that time ago on your car must by now feel attached to it? He really has done well with many awkward jobs to do. Really shows what rust can do! But it will look great when finished and you have all the proof of what was corrected.

Re: Starter motor check
Peter, 1). If the 6v battery has not been charged for a while do that first. 2). Check the battery connections and make sure the earth strap connection the battery floor is good. 3). You do not have to remove the engine to remove the starter. If you can raise the back of the car and support on axle ...

Re: 356A Coupe restro
Greg,
It may only be small but that 'wired' repair you made and welded in was very nice. Never had to do any wing wiring thank goodness I know there is a machine around that does that, saw it once on a google search . So pleased mine are okay!!

Re: Distributor refurbishment
Just a thought have you taken off the distributor cap and turned the Rotor by hand to the stop and does it quickly fly back to its resting point? It should snap back quickly no hesitation. Have you lightly lubricated the area with the springs under the contact breaker plate, usually through the top ...

Please look at the small oblong jet cover rubber gasket before going further. I thought my spindle was leaking until finally I traced the petrol leak from one spindle end of the cast iron base to the jet cover that is directly above the cast iron base. Well worth while looking at that. Spares from R...

When I changed my early T2 diaphragm clutch for a standard spring version bought from Barry Curtis he also supplied me with a new release bearing. This was a great decision the diaphragm clutch assembly was always needing adjustment and I never knew why till I saw many years ago there was a problem ...

Hugo, A few years after a lot of trying my brother Peter found the new owner in Japan. They conversed by mail but I don't think he ever got a photo of the car back from him because of the language situation. I was amazed to see the car as it is now!!! That guy has spent some money on it for sure. An...
