Re: Resto thread for 119100008 69t
The front window frames are difficult to readonise. The frames have steel inserts in them for the bolt threads. The anodising process dissolves these. As a result, most restorers mask parts of the frames rather than having to replace the inserts. If there is anyone out there that does these properly...

Re: Who sells correctly shaped horn grills for a 1971 911T Targa?
I bought a chrome set from AFS. They fit perfectly and were exactly the same shape/size as the incorrect for 1970 black ones that were on the car when I bought it. However, I have fibreglass front wings, so are not as perfect as the original factory steel ones. Nevertheless, they look a lot better t...

The new hardware for my spring plates finally arrived from Design911 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52786479023_6fde723ce3_z.jpg All bolted back together and on its wheels https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52786479733_90d64bd159_z.jpg The right side was just where I wanted it https://live.sta...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date
Anti roll bar now fitted. Getting the drop link bushing on (the white one at the top of the drop link) was a bit of a pain. In the end leaving the bushing in boiling water together with plenty of lithium grease and a sturdy bash with a rubber mallet popped it on. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date
I bolted the spring plates back together today, albeit using the old bolts as the new ones haven't arrived yet and with the assumption that I would need to take it all apart to adjust the ride height. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52740944460_897ce12989_z.jpg After a very short drive the ride ...

Meanwhile, the ARB drop links came back from replating. These are gold passivate. The spring plates are yellow passivate. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52727890700_426b191bbf_z.jpg Powder coated ARB, replated metal bits and new bushings https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52727953643_c559e8e72...

Some quality time spent in the garage today Install the races on the spring plates. These are bonded on with strong epoxy. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52727890555_d7a7e96f5b_z.jpg greased up the torsion bars using my new grease gun. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52727890665_dc321670a3_...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date
Hi Dean, The blasting and then plating were done by 2 different companies. An engineer friend of mine does this for me as he also needs to get a lot of parts cleaned and prepared professionally (his company make precision prototype parts mainly for the auto industry). The new torsion bars are 26mm v...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date
My Spring plates and covers have now been replated. New 26mm torsion bars and polybronze bushings have arrived from Elephant Racing. It all looks very pretty! I'm waiting for the Anti Roll Bar drop links to arrive from plating, so I won't be able to get it back on the road this weekend, but I will f...

Re: Stock 23mm or 26/27mm rear torsion bar?
26MM bar and polybronze bushes arrived from Elephant racing. Even with the 20% VAT and import duty, it was still a lot cheaper than buying in the UK. ARB bar is back from being powder coated, so I'm just waiting for spring plates, covers and hardware to be returned from the platers and a few bushes ...

Re: Opinions on the value of things 911
My twin plug 3.2SS engine with 46mm PMO's and some other trick parts cost around 23k to build in 2016 + the original donor engine (4k I think). So you've got to be looking at close to 30k for the engine alone.
