The only problem i can see with fitting hydraulic stays is that you would prob flex the panels when trying to close.

I have seen many golfs with bent bonnets that have had these fitted to and thats a metal bonnet!!

In my experience i have twice ignored the NIP and they havent chased them up after 2 letters and they have gone away!! You will find that the price you have quoted is for a second hand chassis which will be plus shortening, reconditioning ect so will soon mount up. You will have to decide on which kit as chesil ect have the sub chassis bonded into the body whereas the speedster clinic chassis has the sub chassis wel...

I have a spare stock front beam which you could put on in place for the lowered beam to pass the iva then put your lowered one back on after?
