Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Removed the bushes from my rally cars Trailing Arms today. The old bushes were a monoball type (the rubber within the bearing housing was shot – resulting in variable camber!). It took me 6 hours! Why so long? Because despite the outer shell of the bearing being a very tight fit press fit in the Tra...

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
That looks very nice with good long term ownership / provenance. Not sure about the interior colour, shame it is not an SS (just a bit early) but it seems to be a good honest car and fair value.

Re: When something falls off
I had a Hillman Imp Van back in the day, I used it as a small rally support barge and daily driver. On a right hand bend the back nearside wheel came off complete with Brake Drum. The back near side was on the ground and hence the front offside was in the air, so no brakes (missing brake drum) and n...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Removed the engine from the rally car this morning with the invaluable assistance of 911Hillclimber who was taking a break from gapping piston rings. In truth I assisted him. Thanks Graham A few jobs to do which are easier with the engine and box out. https://i.postimg.cc/5yVpCXS7/DSC01960-001.jpg J...

Re: 911T 1969 2.0 oil type & brand recommendation
I am using this at the moment, in both my cars. Morris Golden Film SAE 15W-50 Classic Motorsport oil - Comes in a "handy" 25 litre drum and has a high ZDDP content I have done a couple of rallies with it, no issues and it maintains good oil pressure and temperature it still drips out of th...

Re: Your Porsche pic of the day......
As it was held at the Fire Service Training College which was, in a previous life a WW2 Bomber Command Airfield and the (strong) wind chill factor made it feel about 0 degrees the turnout was pretty good, they sold all the tickets anyway. Considering the time of year the number of exhibits was very ...

Re: Swap Meet - Thanks
A really enjoyable day again, the wind and rain was soon forgotten when the sun came out. Angus and team did a fantastic job of hosting the event and it is great to meet up and put faces to names. Wonderful to have the opportunity to browse the workshops and I always leave with more Porsche knowledg...

Re: More aggressive brake pads ?
Pagid RS-4-2 (Blue) get my vote. Which I assume are the same pads that Graham refers to.
It is important to run them through a prescribed heat cycle routine (when first fitted) for them to perform at their best.

Replacing my (worn out) Distributor
My Targa has been running OK in recent years (a result of slight adjustments to iron out low speed running issues – see later). However I decided that I was fed up with the temperamental cold starting, erratic tick over and watching the rev counter needle wavering around when in the 2-3K range. Time...
