Re: Restoration of a RHD 67S

Garry, Absolutely excellent thread - much appreciated. If the condition of my car meant the same level of restoration was required I don't think I would have the heart to visit Chestertons until it was finished! BTW who will be doing the paintwork? - Do remember to keep hold of the paint formulation...

Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration

I'm glad you boys think so although to the uninitiated it's still frightening! - Although I've 'restored' a number of cars in the past this is the first real proper project. In fact looking back I smile at how naive I was regarding the cost and amount of work involved, I thought I'd be able to absor...

Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration

In my rose tinted world my long distance 'Glamour' shots of the bodyshell are certainly easier on the eye - here though are a few of Barry's up close and personal photos showing what he really has to contend with: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z386/darrentompkins/Darrens24E049.jpg http://i1187...

Re: Can anyone help me please?

Hi Andrew, My step brother who moved to Germany had the same problem when going this route trying to obtain details of a vehicle he once owned. Even though his details were once on the V5 and could verify information he only managed to get details by using a UK address. If you know the last owner us...

Re: 911 2.2E restoration

John, The car looks simply fantastic, I've been itching to see the latest photos. I wouldn't fret over the colour - we notice in our bodyshop that there are always slight variences, some manufacturer colours will have a number of shades for the same paint code and there will also be differences betw...

Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration

Hi Darren, Did Nick at Redtek give you an idea of build time? Are they carring out the whole build or just the machine work ? Shells in good hands at Barry's 8) Hi Garry, Nick will be completing the whole engine build including all detailing, fitment and final set up - I'm in no rush so haven't pre...

Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration

Near-side rear wing repairs are an odd spot? Lots of patches. Rest certainly looks good from the pics, an easy one for the Barry for a change! Look forward to the reports. Barry did say that this had rot in some unusual places which he hadn't seen before - rear seat backs for example have some issu...

Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration

Thanks John,

Now the car is with Barry I'm thinking ahead to paint. I'd love to see your car in the flesh, once painted before fitting up, if possible - I know yours will be exactly as it's meant to be.

Please let me know if this is ok with you.
Cheers,
Darren

First report and pictures from Barry - car is straight and just a fraction down at the rear, easily sorted.

Collected the car today from Cleaning Consultants - arrived early to find the shell just finished with the zinc phosphate treatment being dried in their booth: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z386/darrentompkins/Picture187.jpg Great to see the car back to metal: http://i1187.photobucket.com/albu...
