I've done this mod - although I made my own kit from scratch. I also fitted 80/100w bulbs and they're loads better although still not quite as good as a modern unit, mostly due to poor-ish reflectors.
Well worth the effort.

Apart from the calipers, I can't think of any difference between backdating a G50 ('87 on) car or a 964. The sills would need 'smoothing' in both cases, the rest of the panel list is the same. It would make a very nice project and a great car at the end of it. 993? Anyone?? 8)

The finished article from Nigel is the strongest argument I've ever seen to question any backdating. Especially a 2.7 Carrera. Well, I hope mine comes a close second then! There's a thread on VZi asking which colour you would have your car if you could change it - in my case, it would be 'Watkins G...

Looking good! My car is going to be started shortly but i'm running around sorting out fasteners and seals, parts, etc. I've also decided to get the suspension re-set to Club Sport height and have the geometry tweaked too. It's gonna be sweet. 8)

They're not hanging around, are they?! Excellent. You'll need the bumper off the car to check it properly for corrosion - it'll be along the lower surface; near the bellows; and inside around the screw holes for the lower valance. I still want to nick your engine lid grille, so bear me in mind if yo...

Hi Jean, Yes I've read your thread in great detail. I would love to be able to be doing this myself (or at least part of it) but in addition to my job I'm also making 8 patio doors, 2 windows and a kitchen all out of wood. I liked the carrera CS idea - It's certainly shocked me how much the backdat...
