I've got a (vague) birth certificate from Porsche (UK?) in the (large) amount of bumpf from Daniel, but it doesn't give a build date. I think I'll contact Porsche GmbH & US of A.

Yeah I've got one of those crappy looking after thought 'S' stamped after the VIN. Feel that there should be something more 'important' looking to designate the top model! (also got the schwingfeuer/standheizung S too.)

911 headlamps

My '66 US import has the smooth clear outer glass covers & behind them a vertical 7" style H4 headlamp. I have decided I prefer the (euro/later?) look of the '911' headlamps with the lens as the outer most piece of glass. Is there any reason why I can't/shouldn't change these over? I unders...

Squeaky 'orrible wiper (motor?)

Ok I can't stop my wipers from squeaking. I've pulled the whole mechanism out of the car, cleaned & greased it. I've partially dismantled the motor & greased the bits that look like they need it (bushing, shaft etc.) I stripped out the worm & cog, cleaned & re-greased. AND THE DAMN T...

Ohh a VW - I had one of those in the old days - did you know you can fit a Porsche engine straight in - it's only 4 bolts you know...

Sorry Paul, can't answer your question & am feeling frivilous

Did have an 050 on both my carbed 914/4s they ran really well.

Outlaw it!
Stick a huge race number on the sides & then stick some tacky insulation tape thru it to 'cancel' it out for road use

Unleaded fuel & octane ratings

My US Spec '67 911S engine was rebuilt (according to receipts) in the very late '80s early 90s ( I think it was '89 the documents are at home). The engine was taken out to 2.2 but retains the early crankcase & I think the heads. What is the advice regarding unleaded fuel & octane ratings. Th...
