Re: Live Blog - The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024

Back home now after fighting my way up the M6. God I hate our motorways. We managed a few hours at Megaphonics today and although I’ve never met any DDKers….I did recognise a few of the cars.. The event itself has a really cool and relaxed vibe and Classsic Le Mans aside the best collection of rare ...

Re: The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024!!!

Hoping to tag along on the Sunday morning en route to Boxengasse. I’m in Shipston on Stour
on Saturday night.

I shall be in this relative youngster.

Any suggestions for a possible rendezvous point on the Sunday morning as you pass by ?

Re: Taking the P....?

Last year was my first visit and I thought it had a 8) vibe..even her indoors was quite impressed. Too many classic car events seem to have been hijacked by a certain element IYKWIM. This felt different. Last time I paid £25 a head and rocked up around 11.30 ..drove straight in with no ticket checks...

Re: The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024!!!

Hi all, I shall try and do the routes on Waze as been suggested Roads can be a problem. The routes will be PM’d out to those who require them later in the week. As trying not to put hotel info out there just yet. Less than a week to go until the adventure :) Having just organised a euro trip myself...

Re: The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024!!!

I shall be staying in the Shipston on Stour area on the Saturday night. Hoping to join onto the convoy en route to Boxengasse at some point. Could you share the proposed route on the Sunday morning please so I can work out a suitable point to slot in as you drive by. On a positive note the weather i...

Only just seen this thread (too much Frazer Nash/BMW stuff in my life!) - great trip, great reporting and many thanks for all the route planning and mapping info James - I often wondered how the hell you did it! Boy your fellow trip members have a lot to thank you for. I had to use the Porsche Road...

Re: Road Tripping to the Pyrenees

Thanks for sharing the methodology. I’m currently finalising the plans for a France,Vosges mountains,B500 Black Forest area trip. I use the plot a route website and google maps etc to plot a route then save it to a gpx file which can then be shared with the group to be used on Tom Tom /Garmin or the...

Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed the write up.

Just out of interest what sat nav/ route plotting apps are you using? Do you pre plan and share it via a gpx file or just wing it?

Re: The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024!!!

I’d be interested in joining a convoy en route to Boxengasse. Is there a rendezvous point somewhere between the hotel and Boxengasse that may be feasible?

Re: The Great Big DDK Meet of 2024!!!

Just a heads up it’s also the Pistonheads Annual Service meet up on the Saturday at Bicester Heritage centre..I know it’s a big event with lots of interesting metal on show although may not fit the DDK demographic ??? Quite a few friends combined this with Boxengasse last year. I arrived later at Bo...

Re: Trip to the Porsche Museum - advice required

Im sure your aware but if your considering doing a few ring laps in your own car on a tourisfahrten session it's not possible to make it risk free should the worst happen…..both from a driving and financial point of view….even when hiring a track car you can only mitigate not eliminate potential exp...

Re: Ferrari - The movie

As a happily married man of 30yrs I would never condone such behaviour but it just tickled me somewhat the physical ‘Hollywoodification’..of both Laura and Enzo.. It lead me to google Laura and I was surprised at how little there was online about her as she can across to her credit as quite a formid...
