Re: Assessing an unknown engine

No progress this past couple of weeks, as the good weather has had me doing other things. But to catch up on some more of the dismantling... the cams are in great health, which is bitter sweet in a way because they'll be off to Newman cams for a mod solex grind, which is the direction I think I'm go...

Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

I think checking manifold temps was good advice. The more you can narrow down the possibilities, the less guesswork is required. Then I'd probably clip a timing light on each spark plug wire. Soon you'll know which cylinders are affected and whether it's fuel or spark. Sent from my SM-S918B using Ta...

Re: Early G Left Black door handle

Or even just an original lever / trigger. Bought an aftermarket one but I can’t get it to work. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hi Ant. You can try one of my spare 1988 handles with the trigger you've bought if you want. You never know, the trigger might suit the later handle. Rob Sent f...

Is that a Morgan behind it and if so, I wonder where it is and what it would sell for today?

....as I've always said with these projects you learn on the job and I came to realise that not all short rear trailing arms are the same. The arms I had purchased, as with all short trailing currently available as far as I am aware, are those designed to work with coil overs as per the RSR. The ar...

Re: engine rebuild

I was reading in Dempsey that you can adjust your compression ratio by machining your con rod bushings off-centre, because the bushings are quite thick there's plenty of room to do so. This may not be the case of course with your posh ones. Might be worth asking Wossner. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn...

356 pistons ???

In my search for 911 pistons I noticed these pistons which appear to be nice original Mahle 83mm 356 pistons mis-listed as 911 pistons. Just thought I'd mention it in case they're a useful bargain for somebody. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385432899633 Don't take my word for it as I know little about ...

Re: attaching LWB bumper

1970 car. There's a right angle bracket for the bumper that attaches to this bracket on each battery box. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240504/895a4c3ae5485868f538281f77e8738c.jpg You can see it sat on top of the battery box here: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240504/3f196eeed7016a32c5bf42...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine

After making up a cam nut removal tool today I found a bit of time to revisit this broken flywheel stud. After covering up all the journals and threads to protect from spatter, I welded the sheared head back on and it reversed straight out with the mini impact driver. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.co...

From the head of the high tensile bolt I fashioned a couple of these prisms. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240504/a03bc8311fb6221e34290c6925350ca9.jpg Which I welded into the socket. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240504/1ae744de57bdb19993f1a0599188e5c2.jpg A smaller shim on the bottom of t...
