Re: Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?
This pic shows the captive nut in service: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WXjsiHeSHsCGFrTZ7 That should be fine as the retractor is low down and you have a running loop high up on the B post. The mounting for thr retractor reel is not a regular feature of a 1970 MY car. They were welded in under the pai...

Re: 1970T - common speedo fails?
Check that the cable is connected into the back of the Speedo. Sometimes the blade doesn't sit probably in the receiver. Also sometimes it becomes disconnected or broken at the gear box end. One way to test this is to remove the cable from back of the Speedo then drive a short distance and feel if ...

I have no idea whether your route is planned but from Hull to Anglesey if you wanted to leave the motorway network, your journey would be about half an hour longer if you deviated south slightly and crossed the peak district national park on say the A616 and then A628. https://www.google.com/maps/@5...

1970T - common speedo fails?
Speed on my 1970T registers as zero on the speedo, regardless of actual speed travelling. Is there a common fault, first place to look or logical order - broken cable, dial, cable disconnected, sender broken, gauge broken etc.?

Re: Accelerator pedal fail
They are small plastic bobbins that are held into the transmission tunnel by metal tabs. As simon says, 3 of them. See the diagram from Richard's excellent Safety Colours website, they are item 30. https://www.safetycolours.com/porsche-911s-1970-restoration/2019/3/6/teleflex-cables They are a bit o...

Hey, I just saw you have a 70% built house just like me! You're not at Cambridge Uni are you?Sam wrote:Yeah. When these cars were cheap enough to make into race cars or track day hacks you’d just run them as rich as possible for safety as much as performance.

Re: Carrera 3.2 continued emissions / idle misery...
Nice work. The only question now is why someone changed it. The risk is that it was to cure lean running and that putting it back melts the engine when it’s hot under load... If so I guess you should be able to hear pinking and see the temp rise before its terminal. Thanks. I'll keep an eye out. Th...

Re: Carrera 3.2 continued emissions / idle misery...
So after a fairly rigorous work through the possible causes I have found the fuel quality adjustment switch under the passenger seat had bee nset to position 6 instead of the stock position 0. This increases fuel delivery by 6% as well as retarding the timing. Having returned it to 0 and re-set the ...

Re: Accelerator pedal fail
As everyone has said! The bit not mentioned is to check the condition of the clear plastic bushes/guides that support the long rod on its journey down the inside of the tunnel, cant remember if there is 3 or 4 of them. This can make the operation sticky and horrible. Poxy job to do, but the parts a...

Carrera 3.2 continued emissions / idle misery...
I've been fairly thorough by my standards in trying to fix this - does anyone have further suggestions where to go next? SYMPTOMS / SIGNS: Carrera 3.2 Emissions fail, CO reading is circa 5.5% should be around 1% I think. MOT limit is 3.5% or 4.5%. The car sometimes idles fine and other times fluctua...

Re: Fuel and cable bracket in Carrera 3.2
Ok well it's gone on where that bolt it appeared to go and it's not coming off now because I've put about 10 things back in the way now! Actually it looks perfectthere, it must be right. What threw me is that it must have not been connected before we started the job.
