Re: Replacement fuel tank
its 3M 08800 grey sealer 250ml bag, I think at least 2 required to achieve the thickness and texture of the original coating, I would buy 3 and return one if not used. Some sort of spray gun attachment is required with these bags too. Please don't take my word for it, either in terms of the colour m...

Re: Replacement fuel tank
The Dansk version is excellent, great value I think, easy to obtain e.g. Design911 and fits perfectly. The only difference that I found was that the angle of the send and return pipes seemed to be subtly different from the original and I recall having to bend one of the (bolt on) pipes slightly. th...

Oil tank mounting cup washers 73
M8, internal >28 mm.
Available new, but overpriced. Prefer cheap used.
Thank you! Dean

Looks like it is unavailable. Perhaps Buttys Bits might be able to make one for you....

Re: Digital power probe tool
It seems to be quite expensive for what it is, possibly paying for the brand name in this case. I think it depends how much you value the basic oscilloscope function, which is perhaps useful on a modern car I don't know. It doesn't measure current, which is useful quite often. I like the fact that t...

Re: Any tips for 915 gearbox end cover swap
I had to remove the cover and rotate the shift rod a little bit, as it was holding the cover down a bit too low.
The cover slipped on easily once the rod was in a good position.
All back together now, thanks for the excellent help!

The replacement end cover doesn't seem to want to go on, at least not willingly

Re: Any tips for 915 gearbox end cover swap
How embarrassing, I only looked as far as the gear housing  . That would be fun - its on a dolly, close to the floor. Perhaps best to just top it up to the fill plug for now, and swap it at a later date.... Thanks guys, you can let go of my hand now :P The 51 year old gears look like new! MyGe...

Re: Any tips for 915 gearbox end cover swap
Sorry, more stoopid novice questions. The old front gearbox end cover is now is removed and the old gasket is removed from the face (grrrr!). Only about 1 litre of oil came out, even after tilting it about 5 deg. The book states 3 litres, so there might be 2 litres left in there - is this possible i...

Re: another 73T Targa restoration thread
Just a ping about my other technical questions from my Feb 13th post below if anyone can help with any of those details? It looks like the engine lid hinge ground straps go to the engine lid mounting bolts for cars that have those straps, so that question is answered (thanks to those guys). Thanks i...

Re: another 73T Targa restoration thread
The sleeve is interesting. I should have been clearer, sorry - I have a ground strap attached to each engine lid hinge, under the parcel shelf. You can see the left one hanging down in front of my fuel filter. I need to know where the opposite end of those two straps go....
