Re: Maddening Running Issue
knapmann, this sounds like a good first option. do you have a link to the gauge you installed please? have checked the line plumbing - it's all correct. i bought this one... it was only £50 back then! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111704283762 this looks much the same and cheaper https://www.ebay.co.u...

Re: Maddening Running Issue
it might be totally different issue, but if the OP suspects fuel delivery is part of the problem for me the best way to check is to get a pressure gauge then if that shows a problem it can only be a blockage at the intake in the tank, a blocked filter canister (unlikely), a problem with the pressure...

Re: Maddening Running Issue
I had issues like this that I traced to fuel delivery on my MFI, for me the issue was variable fuel pressure caused by sticking pressure control valve in the return fitting of the fuel filter assembly, pressure would stick high and low randomly when driving around. I found this by fitting an inline ...

Re: BIB5566
Thanks for all the kind words guys. Im really happy with how this has worked out, plus the relatively small damage to my wallet, all things considered. Obviously I would have been happier if this had never happened! Im sure I would be knocking on for a 5 figure sum to pay someone to repair this, whi...

Re: Another early S bites the dust
Extensive fire damage automatically gets Cat B status regardless of whether a specialist can restore it. I wonder what the payout was from the insurance company? If the shell has to be scrapped to meet the legal requirements of Cat B, how much value is there left in the rest of the car as it stands...

Re: Another early S bites the dust
Well supposedly a CAT B means "unrepairable chassis damage (but parts can be salvaged)" - i.e. it is not written off due to the cost to fix, but that it is fundamentally unrepairable. Doesnt look that difficult to repair to me even if the engine is toast. I wonder who decides what "un...

Re: BIB5566
Time for welding. I came up with a method to do this without cutting the seats out. Cutting the seat bases out would be a huge amount of work in a car that is largely assembled. I'd have to remove the front seats, rear seats, carpets, rear cards, dig through all kinds of foam and bituminous sound de...

Re: BIB5566
Making progress. I have re-inforced the replacement tube around the base of the training arm mounts where cracks seem to originate. Used the sleeve pipe and jubilee clips to establish the correct clocking angle of the tube using measurments I got off other people who had access to body shells. Then ...

Re: BIB5566
Interesting : Never seen or heard of one breaking like this before. Original does not look rotten , which would be usual cause of replacement , I was just telling Shelia of your woes yesterday , and said I thought you might be out of action for quite a while , as this was a major repair job. I thin...

Re: BIB5566
So where was I, oh yes, I got my engine running of sorts and was bedding it in somewhat, when the back end of my car decided to just collapse...you know, in that way that happens to nobody else except me. I had a great time waiting 6hrs to get dragged onto a trailer. Once home I managed to get an id...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
the tubes were re-inforced from 1973 onwards In what way? I will qoute Grady Clay from the link that is available above regards Tube failure "Thank you for bringing this issue to the forefront. This is a problem every early car faces. Porsche learned a lot over the years but the most significa...
