Quick update, fitted the 60 jets back in sep and cleaned out the idle passages with carb cleaner and compressed air. The idle screws then started behaving and I managed to balance the carbs. The cars now running better than it has in a long while. Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Idle Jet Differences
Only thanks to 101 projects written by the pelican parts guy. Would highly recommend although I would say some of the time estimates for jobs are a bit optimistic for first timers.
Ahhh, hopefully my fix will be that simple.

Re: Idle Jet Differences
I just had another look at all the jets and I managed to find marks on them ranging all the way from 45 to 60. Very odd ! Some of them look like they've been drilled so my guess is that someone has just used odd bits from here and there and drilled them all out to 60? For the sake of continuity I pl...

Re: Idle Jet Differences
Thanks Andy, I think I'll order a set of 60's as well as completing my set of 55's, see which works best and get back to you.
Wildtexas, can this be done to the carb on the car or does it require some disassembly? cheers

Re: Idle Jet Differences
the one on the left in image 2 doesn't come apart. Can't remember which way round in image1. I also noticed that some have 50 stamped and some have 55 which can't be right.

Idle Jet Differences
Hi All, I recently had a go at balancing my carbs using the "lean best idle mixture" method as outlined on http://www.performanceoriented.com/. During the procedure I couldn't get the idle mixture screw on cylinder one to have any effect on engine speed/smoothness (the plug on this cylinde...

Malpassi Filter King Fitment
Hi All,
My crappy chrome fuel regulator failed on me today so am planning on fitting the malpassi filter king as recommended on the forum. I'm intrigued to see some pics of how people have mounted theirs. Also could you confirm that the larger 85 mm version is the correct one for a 911.
cheers, Sam

valves
Looking to adjust the valves but am reluctant to drain the engine oil as did it less than a year ago. Does anyone know roughly how much oil I'd lose taking the valve covers off ?
Cheers
