Re: 1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

I just caught up with this, read the last 8 pages or so. I was glad to read when the noid light had been utilized; very useful information. I went through an similarity dispiriting diagnostic process with my erstwhile 87 924S with the same Motronic (but no Camens), a story for another time (or not a...

Re: Witches brews for cleaning inside of screens?

Water as hot as you can stand it with lemon juice added; dry with cotton toweling washed and dried with no fabric softener.

Re: 356A Coupe restro

What excellent work your shop did on the body repairs. It seems like it’s something only those in the know and who’ve seen it can understand: the bodies of these simple little cars are really very complex.

Everything else done in great taste and execution.

More than 2% CO would be very stinky and yield lousy MPG.

Re: Dazed and confused

PeterK’s monkey-bottom metaphor for the win; it will be recycled by me at the first possible opportunity. I tried to do National/Regional car clubs (here in USA) a couple of times when I was less old. Learned it wasn’t for me and the reason is related to what Peter says. Bottom line (pun!), who amon...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

I’ve been driving my 1982 SC for the past couple of years rather than working on it. It just hadn’t needed anything, plus I had my then-long term ‘87 924S on my scissor lift. Well, I sold the 924S (gotta stress the “S”!) last October and immediately spent the money of this ‘57 Willys Pickup (like a ...

Re: Rust treatment before paint?

Any access to a spot media blaster? That would get into the pores of the metal, then a good etch primer, then color/colour.

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Not really my cup-of-tea but went to a local car chow at Apley Farm Estate just into Shropshire today with some friends. Despite the rain saw some great cars and home for the wife to watch the Men's finals. Brownie points or what! The 996 was part of our group, never ever ever seen such a perfect 9...

What a superb canvas this particular big cat represents.

(I must add, that Thornley Kelham car looks like a monstrosity, along with all the pompous-git-drivel in their catalog. Hubris at its worst.)

Best wishes for enjoying this resto as much as the other two.

Re: More scary cr@p from DVLA

Any irony here that Brexit was supposedly about getting away from invasive legislation, yet this madness comes from within the UK? And is this kind of thing party-in-charge related, or the work of the mandarins in ministries who really run things no matter whether Con or Lab in power? I thought Cons...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

I added a Seine kit to my USA 82 SC Coupe and like it immensely. I welded the tab on. I’d already solved my 915’s recalcitrant 1-2 and 3-2 resolved by sending the ‘box to a good shop, which replaced not just the 1/2 synchros but also the slider. I use Kendall oil. Together it’s all relatively deligh...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Excellent updates. I will remember to look back at your WUR work when mine needs doing.

I put dash light LEDs in my 82 but had to revert to the original incandescent bulb for my high beams blue light … the LED version was overbearing, searing a literal Blau Punkt into my eyeballs.

Re: E Type 888330

That is so sweet, distilled to the essence and, compared to a regular e-type is what an RS is to a regular 73 911.

More piccies, please. Interior, engine, etc.

Thanks much,
John
