Tinware captive nuts

Just managed to purchase the final few bits of tinware to finish off my engine bay, and worked out that the rearmost engine tin is missing its rivnuts, or captive nuts. You know, the threaded inserts that fit into the holes in the tinware, and are riveted in place? Are these items available? Or do p...

Re: Fuel pressure - or lack of. Any thoughts?

I had exactly this problem when firing up my TR6 for the first time in about 15 years which had Lucas mechanical fuel injection. I had ditched the crappy Lucas pump in the boot, and replaced it with an aftermarket Bosch pump, which sounds similar to the one you have. After turning everything on, and...

Some queries about seats.

As my restoration of my 356SC progresses, slowly, my attention has lately turned to seat refurbishment. So, a few questions... I seem to have a pair of left side front seats, based on the fact that the recliner knobs on both seats would be operated by the sitter's left hand. Do I need a complete rig...

Re: Help please from any motorcycle frame geometry experts

If you are worried about stability, and in particular any tendency to tankslap, than I wouldn't be too concerned. Front end stability depends entirely on trail, the offset between an imaginary line extrapolated from the steering axis to the ground, and the contact patch of the front tyre. Because yo...

Re: Steel Lemmerz Wheel 5.5J x 15

Bumpity bump. So, still on the lookout for a Lemmerz wheel...

I have been engaging with a variety of chrome plating protagonists to investigate the feasability of rechroming my wheels.

Will report back if I am successful.

Steel Lemmerz Wheel 5.5J x 15

Wanted, a steel wheel in the above size. Looks like I just missed out on one. Its required because I presently have 3 Lemmerz wheels, dated 10/68, 10/68, and 7/68, but my fourth wheel is a KPZ item, in the correct size, and dated 4/67, but the cut outs in this wheel have a less pronounced flange, so...

Re: Carb issues

When you switch the engine off, is the problem that you can still see fuel dripping from the accelerator pump tube down the throat of the carb on No4 cylinder? If so, then the float height is a smidge too high, or the float needle isn't seating properly. Its the work of a moment to find the float he...

Re: Beverley Hills Car Club

Ok, I guess that its time to come out and say that I have an ex BHCC car. I bought it as a project, unseen, except for the photographs, and I am quite happy with what I have bought, and the price I paid. I didn't get a PPI, as I was happy with what I could see in the pictures. Only two small surpris...

Re: flashing to fast and SMC electronic flasher

Sorry for perhaps stating the obvious, but I'm assuming that your car is 12v, is the electronic relay for a 12v car? I've fitted an electronic relay to my '65 SC without any problems, but I had to re order the connectors in the 3 pin holder, then run a separate wire to earth from the new relay. Make...

Re: World's first Aircooled Chronograph.... LM917

What makes a 'thing' cool is a good debate to have though, because we, as Porsche enthusiasts, are buying into a brand which, by general consensus is one of the coolest on the planet. For me, something has to have a certain honesty about it to be cool, or as marketers might say, a core product truth...

Re: US spec. tail lights converted to UK MOT compliant.

Yes, Phil, that's the plan. I have heard of the Italian lenses, but like you, have never seen a picture of one, so the chances of tracking a pair down would be remote. As a bit of a post script, I found the black and purple wire under the dash that runs from the brake light switch to the turn signal...

Re: Electronic Flasher Relay

I can report that the 6v flasher relay from Auto electric supplies works, but doesn't illuminate the warning lamp. I thought I might be able to make it work with a little fettling, but no result.
