Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

I had a few hours to faff in the garage this afternoon and managed to make some progress.... A friend of mine who runs a commercial lorry company removed the old bearings and pressed new ones in. So, I gave them a quick clean and a coat of silver paint to pretty them up. https://live.staticflickr.co...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

It seems to have taken an age to get parts back from platers and powder coating. I have a couple of mates who are doing this for me. The left wishbone needed a bit of bashing and a blob of weld to get it back to as new condition. However, I got most of the suspension parts back from powder coating t...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

A lick of paint on the struts and the dust covers back on. Calipers are now off for refurbishment and everything else is off for replating or powder coating.

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

Amazing what you can get done when you have a few days off work! The strip down is going pretty well. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53429441659_cac8115c2b_c.jpg This is as far as I'm going. I didn't want to replace the brake lines. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53429125196_35fd671ec1_c.j...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

The ends of the Anti Roll Bar have these ceramic things on the end. They needed to come off for powder coating anyway, but I'm not sure how I will get new ones on. I assume they come in 2 halves and are bonded together. Need to look into that. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53412585948_ab64d7a8...

Re: 70T rolling resto / right date

My car is now tucked up for the winter, so time for a few winter projects. Last winter I refreshed the rear suspension, so this winter I'm on the front. Step 1. Jack up the car. Usually I put axles stands under the front suspension when I'm jacking it up. Obviously I can't do that and remove the sup...

I have Avon CR6ZZs on my 7R and Deep 6. Good tyres, nice and sticky. I bought them from Longstone Tyres.

Re: Happy days, 911S is alive!

I personally would't use a wevo shifter. Short shifters move the pivot point of the gearstick and put more strain on the components. Changing the bushes with fresh genuine Porsche bushes will improve precision, as will getting the gearbox linkage adjusted by someone who knows a lot about 915 gearbox...

Re: Window frame removal

I replaced my front window trim. Much easier and probably cheaper than getting them replaced. My Front window frames were re-anodised by Nick: http://www.early911.co.uk/html/alloy_trim.html. However, the screw thread inserts in the frame are steel which the anodising process dissolved. The inserts w...
