Re: My wife blames Barry

welcome to the dark side! Thanks Mark. Join the mig welding forum - Done, used this when making my selection how to improve hobby welders (no disrespect intended) - no offence taken, you haven't seen my welding ;) The welder has been sitting for a while, so 'service' items ordered and hopefully get ...

My wife blames Barry

I was lucky enough to get on one I the Macmillan days that Barry organised recently. As a result, I collected a secondhand Cebora 130 yesterday and am in the process of replacing the service items before starting to practice. If anyone has experience of these and has any tips, I'd welcome any guidan...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Removed fan and shroud, going off for a clean and a new colour scheme, TBA - probably not red. Drained oil and removed lower cam covers. Dropped one cam cover in oil pan. Plus a socket. And some washers. Doing my first home engine service, so top covers next plus valve set, dizzy, etc, to follow. Ke...

Re: Bump steer kit

Just installed a kit on my car. Car was lowered last year and steering was not great, felt very vague around centre and car tended to wander over uneven surfaces. Put the kit in, took about 20 minutes start to finish on my 3.2 and all feels much sharper, just need to get tracking done a that will ha...

Re: 2.2S with a 2.4l V6, foosh wheels and hand gestures

Soooooooo, they must've done the ground up resto first and then replaced everything with brand new parts. Otherwise they would have built a brand new car, including the fibres, for which a ground up resto would have been unnecessary. Unless they wanted to replace some of the brand new parts with res...

Re: Macmillan Sheetmetal & Restoration 4-5th April 2014 Now

Had a great day, went to bed dreaming of MIG welders, sheet steel and reactive face masks. Not only does Barry know his stuff, he relays the information well and has great patience. I am not going to do any welding just yet (and need a lot more practice based on yesterday's evidence!) but I am going...

I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for this next time, learning about welding is on my to do list. Great cause too, so a no-brainer.

Re: New Targa???

"But why does the roof need to do that? Why couldn't it be a lift off panel in carbon fibre rather than this fabric and fancy robotic roof?" "Yes, sir. That would be cheaper and easier to engineer and maybe more practical. But it wouldn't look anywhere near as Coooooooooooooool!!&quo...

Re: Targa fit assistance please

The beading on the front edge of the vinyl should be angle downwards, so that it flattens slightly when the top is locked down and improved contact with the body/seal. Yours looks to be flat, which would cause noise (ask me how I know…). What is the fit like front to back? I have a problem with mine...

Re: 911 Forum users please post a picture of your car.

Mine! Breezed the MOT on Thursday (well, other than complaints of oil on the right hand HE filling the test bay with smoke - what do they expect?), suspension just refurbed front and back, so next get geo and corner balancing done. But back on the road after 6 months in hiding. Yippee!! IMG_1368DDK....
