Re: Okrasa Special

What a brilliant result - it looks so cohesive you must be thrilled, and I tip my hat to you for allowing the craftsmen to really flex their skills, commissions sound easy but the bills are big and it takes lots of commitment to maintain the same standard throughout. Very good job.

Re: Okrasa Special

Nice if others with more skill and an eye for this can appreciate the work M&Y are doing. I just know how hard it is to get a compound curve totally right - the reflections never lie, loads of us can get 95% there but that last bit, total consistency in radii and blending them through, really i...

Re: Okrasa Special

Are the panels that sit on top of the sides of the bonnet one piece each side? Very dope work with the crease. You know its good when you can't see the tool marks, like the joggled flange for the bonnet to sit into is just so clean for a really wide flange thats going to want to wrinkle. Like wise l...

Re: Okrasa Special

the metal work on that is insane, the light lines!!! That inner front wing / bonnet section is also a work of art a hell of a reverse curve to pop the wing across. Not many that can do that!! And the intersection at the rear between the haunches and the deck. Do you have any other pictures where you...

Re: A sort of Barn(es) find

really nice job you would have got there with the hammer form for the bonnet edge, the key being a) clamp plate needed to be same diameter as the piece you are forming over, with so much shrink the metal moves up and 'inside' the fold line b the form block, the piece you are forming over, needs to b...

Re: Cleaning the guts of an old engine?

You want some decarb solution, however v toxic and I wouldn't want it around the house. The guys I I cleenz macheenz have a tank full, guaranteed the cases will come out like new.
Storage, use Gibbs brand rather than wd40.

Re: Back in beige

Hi Jamie If you fancy having a go at taking the dents out, this article explains it the best of all http://www.proshaper.com/645/ The slapper is easily made, not everyone has a duesy spring lying about, mine is a bicycle front fork (the tapering kind), cut at the bridge at the top, which is then wel...

STYLE AUTO - archittettura della carrozzeria

A partial set of Style Auto, comprising 23 Issues. Style Auto was the premier / only! magazine documenting the evolution of car styling, with its focus largely on the Italian houses. There is a huge wealth of information in these, not only studies of one-offs but also the documentation of the produc...

Re: $1,400,000

I wonder if it is our own fault - without a base of 'normal' enthusiasts appreciating (& sharing this) these things i doubt the market would have the confidence it currently has, a quick look on here shows what is being cooed over, non porsche pic thread etc - i think it would be interesting to ...

Re: $1,400,000

Yes it will be interesting, i know i am already staggered by the candf dino sale. what i want to know if whether these folks have stringent targets or a victms like the rest of us to the auction fever. If prepared to pay significantly over an already robust estimate then you know that a few enquirie...

Re: $1,400,000

Interesting point, but

I know US the most active buyers etc but if you are in for a play then why wait? If you know what you want then a call / email reveals lots can be bought off market anywhere. Shipping is cheap.

Re: $1,400,000

It surprises me how lazy speculators / investors are. a)why wait for an auction. Significant disparity in my experience between private and public sales so if you are in for capital uplift why buy the most expensive. b) perprevious comment, what about fundamental value? with such variety to be had i...

Re: Guidance on engineering career sought

I did 18 months of structural engineering at University, quickly lost the will to live, whether this was purely from the content or more the environment / delivery i am not sure, did well in physics / maths at school but couldnt really hack the virtual nature of the work - friends who have carried o...
