Re: Any 356 for sale ?
Hi Matthew. I share that sentiment!!! Sold an immaculate Frogeye Sprite that I’d spent years restoring and bought a tatty RHD 356. It was liberating, as you say, carefree parking! The only obstacle was a mental one. Having been used to running really nice restored cars, you get a different set of co...

Re: Help please with virtually non running C
Sounds to me like an obstructed jet.
We had this on a vintage car a couple of years ago. Turns out there was a tiny piece of rubber in a jet.
Or to quote Dougal Cawley “Pubes in the carb”

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
The old fashioned type charger, probably at least twenty years old, Made in England pre-digital era, usually with a switch for 6 or 12 volts and an ammeter on the front. They buzz like a Sub-Station and make a Lead Acid Battery fizz like a glass of Coke!!! Handy for giving an Optima a kick up the a*...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
What type of battery are you using Neil, Optima or traditional rubber ? Neil, my car had stood for well over a year with its Optima 6v battery not having enough puff to turn over the engine. My “Lidl” Battery Conditioner was duly coupled up and after a couple of hours clicked off to indicate a full...

Re: Valuation of RHD 1959 356A help needed
I had this dilemma a few months back. Unfortunately there aren’t too many RHD projects to compare with. Your gut should give you some idea though. There is a RHD that has just popped up on eBay, totally stripped, in the U.S. and with a starting bid of £20,000 reserve not met. I don’t think eBay is t...

Re: Original paint colour v change and impact on value
I think colour is less important, if the paint is old then leave it. People nowadays love the “aged” look. My car too has been various hues, UK RHD like yours, supplied Light Ivory, then viper green, finally silver in 1984. It still wears that paint today, complete with bubbles, scratches and variou...

Re: Just miserable
I feel your pain.
I’ve tucked my 356 away, I need to investigate the hot running and noisy bottom end.
It has however allowed me to slowly amass parts to rebuild the brakes and the suspension ( Thank You Mycar).
With all the events cancelled this year it’s hardly been felt.
Roll on 2021!

Mr. Turner,
I see you have a Split Screen VW for sale, a vehicle that you had restored last year.
One assumes that the sale price will leave you with a healthy profit?

You could always drill a load more holes and it would become an appropriate wheel for the “Lightest 911”...911hillclimber wrote:You can stop the crack by drilling a small (ie 1.5mm) hole at the end of the crack. This will stop the crack from running further.

Re: I’m thinking of buying the BaT 356. Good move?
I remember reading an article years ago in a magazine and a question was raised asking which car people kept the longest. The answer was “Porsche 356”. I’m a lightweight, only had mine for eight years, the previous owner had it for nearly thirty. The car you intend to buy is from a long-standing own...

Re: YOB 3
Funny how this was a common occurrence back in the day, my AFN car too was originally registered with a different number to the one it currently displays. Funny thing is though, I think I prefer this to it’s original! Interestingly the asking price for YOB3 (the car) has just dropped significantly f...

So, to play Devils Advocate, £30,000 conversion for a Greta Car with 120bhp, limited range and steamed up windows, OR £30,000 (with a big chunk spare) spent on a Great Car with a nicely built 120bhp flat four making all the right noises with unlimited range potential and less steamed up windows? I w...
