Re: 356 speedster project for sale

Doubtless a more tech savvy person could post a link?
It appears as though (unusually) this wasn’t a scam as there is now a write up on the Porsche 356 Facebook (Horrible Place!) page about its subsequent purchase and recovery!

Re: 356 speedster project for sale

Nice scam advert... Seller with zero feedback, not a single detail of the car. You don't post three useless photos on eBay, especially of a 'barn find' Speedster and casually say 'more information later'. That was my first thought when I saw the “0” feedback. Not so sure though tbh. It’s all a bit ...

Re: RHD 356A Coupe hand throttle length?

Hi James.
Is the basic cable the same as a RHD BT6? I appreciate the knob is different on a B to an A.
I’m happy to attempt to measure the one on my car (RHD BT6) if that helps??

Re: Replacing age related registration numbers.

Just a quick update, I got the car MOT’d on the 21st of January, tried the online service on the Monday (24th) as others said on here it still didn’t work. In a temper I chucked it all in an envelope and posted it 1st Class. The few people I spoke to about it said I should’ve posted it recorded... W...

Thank you all for the informative replies.
Looks like I need an MOT then...

Should be a doddle, there’s bugger all to test on a 1925 car....

Hurrah!
And it also goes to prove that it isn’t always necessary to replace the bush!
Fingers crossed for a nice day!

Re: Replacing age related registration numbers.

Also am I right in thinking of an age related plate is given to an imported car or you have to apply for an age related plate it’s non transferable anyway? This is true. The V5c does indeed state non-transferable, but I believe you can put a different mark on, just not claim the age-related one. Br...

Replacing age related registration numbers.

I’m hoping that someone on here has experience of this. The registration on one of my decrepit vehicles was assigned by DVLA in 2017 when the restoration was completed as the original number plates and any paperwork were lost during service as a farm trailer! We had to jump through hoops with the DV...

Re: Where is Roy's thread on removing the starter?

Neil, to be fair when I looked at mine I struggled to see or feel any wear.
I think you’re correct to pop it all back together. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Do let us know the outcome.

I totally agree with you Neil. I’m not convinced either. My philosophy of late has been to deal with problems as they arrive rather than trying to second guess and beat the system! I’m sure that the smug chap who bought the best computer he could in 1995 thought he was future proofed... Technology h...

Re: Where is Roy's thread on removing the starter?

Neil, I seem to recall that when I did my bushing, all that was required was (I think) an M14 tap. The idea is that as you “thread” the old bushing, the end of the tap cams out on the gearbox casing and pushes the old bushing out! It’s a good few years since I did it though. My car when bought was t...

And to be fair, that car at a smidge under £100k is much better than a mates Mk1 automatic Mini with the engine and logbook off a 998 cooper at £22500.!!!
