If the alternator regulates at 14V with no electrical load, sound like the regulator is doing something, just can't do the current ! Side lights is very little extra current though. Is it just the lights that cause this, or heater blower, heater rear window, wipers too. Could be a fault in the side ...

My strip down and rebuild was as a result of it jumping out of 5th. It turned out to be caused when a plonker replaced the clutch, kippered the thread holding the release fork pivot. They fixed the problem by re-drilling the pivot thread Glueing the pivot in place ! It leaked some oil out to a level...

Gary, Sorry, can't give any clues to the whine, but... I took my 5 sp 915 to pieces last year. I bought the alignment plate and the deep socket to clear the speedo drive. I am sure I can arrange a loan for a fellow DDK member. When I looked at my box, I thought about replacing the bearings as a matt...

Hi Guys, I am setting up a small test rig, involving the CD box and the Tacho. Coupled to some electronic timing gizmo and and an electric motor. With all this, I hope to be able to test both parts out to beyond max RPM's. I should also be able to see if the Tach pulls the timing out... I'll let you...

CD Box Circuit diagram wanted

I know I've seen this somewhere, I've even printed it out, but....
Has anyone got a copy of the CD box circuit diagram (Internals).

TIA

Typically, when apparently un-related lamps start playing up, it is usually a poor earth on the lamp cluster. This would probably be why the headlight is not at full brightness too.
Start looking at the earthing......

Good luck

Ian,
I can look at the tach if you are not in a hurry. Since I am looking at Barry's CDI, I could may be test the two out together.

Let me know if interested.

Cheers

Thanks for that Nick, just what I was thinking.
It is the build up of old oil that usually stops old clocks. Do you think the whole movement can be ultrasonically cleaned, or would it need to be dismantled first.
Sounds like you have experience of clocks, Horologist by any chance ??

The resistor can be removed if a 12V coil is fitted. However, cold starting may become harder.

The theory is this..... Fit a 6V coil, and a ballast resistor so that it runs off 12V (6V across the resistor + 6V across the coil). Fit a pair of contacts across the ballast resistor that short it out when the starter motor runs. This is so that when the starter motor pulls the voltage down during ...

When I was trying to diagnose throttle spindle wear on another car, I was told to run some oil down the spindle . this will make a very temporary seal, but should give a clue if it is the cause of your trouble.

Fit it and use it Luke... Batteries like to be left charged up. If allowed to discharge for a long period, they can die and may never recover. Lead Acid batteries like to be left charged up. If you don't use the new battery, best to check it is maintained charged up.

Yes, we were on the other track. Screaming round in a MX5 and PT cruiser (TeeHee) along with a load of 7esque kit cars. The MX5 slides really well. Glad we took a spare set of tyres with us. Had a lap round in a 350bhp Sylva phoenix, running a sierra cosworth turbo motor, sticky slicks and talented ...
