Re: Who sells correctly shaped horn grills for a 1971 911T Targa?

I run those AFS one on my 1972 911 and their dimensions are way more accurate that all the other repro parts. Highly recommended! https://www.autoforeignservices.com/uploads/5/1/0/7/5107739/published/horn-grill-lwb-left.jpg?250 Regards Jan It would be worth contacting Eric Linden at ‘autoforeign ser...

Re: Classic Autowerks ‘Ultimate Shift Rod Bushing’

Morning Magnus, I just did the install last week and it was very easy. It is a precise fit and as expected, delivers noticeably improved lateral guidance to the shifter rod. The changes made to my 1972 were even bigger as I finally changed to the 1973- shifter, combined with the Karsten Spring (as m...

Re: Classic Autowerks ‘Ultimate Shift Rod Bushing’

All fully paid up bushings have been posted out now by RM 2nd class, apart from emjo (end of the month as requested) and Rostrenner and Nurlinks (£7.50 P&P each to my PayPal account please for RM International Standard postage). Hopefully you’ll all be okay fitting them!… Just sent you the P&am...

Re: My '72 911T

Not going to miss this filter! I preferred these OE filters when they were black ... I'm fairly sure the Mahle filters are still black . Yes, that’s what I took off. Normally use the OE ones, but they are probably identical! The ones from Mann Filter (W940/29) also comes in black, btw.

Re: My '72 911T

Looking excellent, Gary! Reminds me of the removal of the whole oil system last summer when my engine spun a rod bearing. :blackeye: By the way, these 3 plastic cups that isolate the tank from the body are no longer NLA (Made in China for a steap 8€ each): https://content2.eu.porsche.com/prod/pag/cl...

Re: My '72 911T

Hi, I made them from flat sheet plastic and made up some brackets to hold them to the body in various places. The back ones use the torsion bar mount and the bumper cross bar, so no additional holes. The front ones needed some drilling! Took a while to get the shape with card and tape, but worked o...

Re: My '72 911T

Gary,
I like your approach to lining the wheel arches.
May I ask: did you find them ready-made or did you have to adapt / construct those to fit the 72?

Great progress with the oil system, keep going! :)

Re: From ‘72T to 2.5 S/T: GeLo #44

What I can contribute from the restoration of my '72 in terms of fender fit is that the new Classic wings seem to really fit way better than anything else available. Since they were not yet available at the time, I sourced second-hand original wings, under the impression that being produced from old...

Looking magnificient, Matt - great progress!

Buy a new "Alu-Heckklappe" and keep the original ST deck lid as it is, it is too beautiful that way! 8)

Excellent progress, thanks Darren!
May the mojo be with you. :)

I share the view of a great base product but equally important is superb craftsmanship applied in the build.

My latest engine build fixed a terrible engine job that only lasted for 5000km…

Re: Best short shift kit for 915 gearbox?

Another cost-effective improvement for 915‘s is the ‚Karsten Spring‘: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche- ... pring.html

It works really well in a 1985 3.2 Carrera and is available on this side of the pond. :)

Re: From ‘72T to 2.5 S/T: GeLo #44

Haha, the same naughty behaviour as mine!

Yes, a few surprises indeed. The engine block is a 7R block, also sporting a later oil drainage cover (indicating a 3.2 oil pump). Head lamp glass is AL.. :?

All in all, a fantastic addition to the Museum collection!
