Re: New member
Hi Colin Good to see another Ayrshire based owner. I'm loving the 70's vibe of the 914 with her colour and Tartan seats and the Spider looks lovely. I'm "Over the Hill" in Dundonald. If you see me around in Helga (my 912) or my old Merc Estate, flag me down (an approach used to good effect...

Re: 912 Rear Shock Absorbers - any difference SWB/LWB?
I believe Bilstien do replacements but have read and watched some feedback that they are a bit too firm for road use on a 912. I’ve always considered the ride quality on my car to be excellent, whilst still giving great handling for a 50+ year old car Ride quality being much better than most modern ...

Re: 912 Rear Shock Absorbers - any difference SWB/LWB?
I believe so. IIRC the long wheel base have different diameter mounting bolts at the bottom. 68 can be weird as it's the one year only thing. I ended up with the koni classic red shocks. Firmer than the 50 year old original boge units, but a very positive feel in road holding. Matt Hi Matt, I know ...

Re: STARTER MOTOR - HIGH TORQUE TYPE
Thanks for this Knoxy, I should have checked the forum earlier, as I've had this issue for a few months!! After a run, the car will re-start immediately, but if left for 10 mins (eg filling up with fuel/picking kids up from school) it often won't start. If its left for a further 10/15 mins, it will...

Re: STARTER MOTOR - HIGH TORQUE TYPE
Hi Knoxy, my car has always suffered with the same percolation issue you mention. I'm thinking of investing in one of those primer pumps, I like the look of the one you have used as its quite small compared to some I've seen. Can I ask where you purchased yours from? Also Love the metal fuel filter...

Not at Revival Neil, your possibly picking up an Airport vibe, it's at Prestwick Airport, which was where I worked back in the days when I had to do things I didn't enjoy.

Re: Electronic Ignition
I know this is an old post but I can recommend the Pertronix Ignitor Electronic Ignition & a Pertronix Flame Thrower Coil. The Electronic Ignition is completely hidden in the distributor and I painted the Coil blue and fitted a Bosch Sticker to try to make it appear more period correct. Mine has...

Re: STARTER MOTOR - HIGH TORQUE TYPE
Hi Tim I really works a treat and is easily removable if you want to go back to stock. I was a bit concerned that it may have some impact on performance but I can confirm that if fitted in line before the pump, once the engine is running, it becomes flow through and has zero impact irrespective of h...
