When Newton Commercial did the carpets in my '74, they went to use an early set and there was a small difference around the passenger footwell (early carpet simply didn't fit up under the dash at all). The seat mounting points were different lengths, too, requiring a small mod to make the floor carp...

Because the cold-start enrichment system will compensate for the lean condition caused by the leak. When the engine warms up, the mixture leans out and Bingo! there's your problem...
