Re: Wtd 1970 914 rear 4stud or converted 5 stud hubs
Jonny great advice and I’m always sceptical especially around these crucial parts. It’s just a pity that Uk doesn’t have same supply resource than USA, some suppliers there need to be watched also, but suppose supply and demand. I have options and sure something will turn up soon Since I resolved t...

Re: Wtd 1970 914 rear 4stud or converted 5 stud hubs
You can buy brand new 5 stud hubs (made by OE Match Classic whoever that is) from Design911. But... There is a problem with them. When you pull the studs in, the thinner area between the stud hole and the edge of the hub deforms outward which means the brake disc doesn't seat (as it locates on the h...

Re: 911SC (RHD) project swap or p/ex for RHD aircooled 911 on the road?
I don't understand the swap for a ''Sport' model SC. Only difference is the tea-tray spoiler, front lip and Bilsteins and Fuchs all of which are readily available. Sport models don't necessarily come with Sports seats - mine didn't. TBH, I spent a considerable amount of time 'desporting' mine, prefe...

Yes, you can disassemble and remove the flap. Be very careful as it is easy to break the flap shaft removing the push on grip washer.

The 914 blend valve plastic part is the same as 911 but the metal brackets are not.

A basic layman's test is to look at your engine running in the dark - can be quite illuminating! The area around number 1 cylinder can be quite prone to stray sparks.

Re: Harry’s garage update - junk ‘genuine’ parts
I've had this across several very different 'areas', from model aeroplanes to Lambretta restoration parts. If the manufacturer does no Quality checking assuming he has been given some to meet) then thing go wrong. The retailer does none, and generally is powerless to effect change, and in my latest...

On the flip side, instead of taking things to the tip (sorry - ‘recycling centre’), FB Marketplace will have two peculiar fellows turn up in a Nissan Micra before you can finish typing ‘free’. Works for everything.

Wow, amazing and welcome.
One thing puzzling me. The car looks in plain view of the pavement/road. Assuming this is your grandfather's drive, how many times a week did he have to answer the door to refuse an offer?

Re: EV conversions and DVLA
I agree that the numbers are daft though, anything sub 6 to 60 is still properly quick. I'm currently at 4.5s in the 914 which is a little silly. Usually when you are driving an old car, you tense up and prepare to brace when someone pulls out late from a side road. Now, there's a new game... I pul...
