I'm sure an auction 'ring' is still illegal. Antique dealers were notorious for it.72911E wrote:da dah ......Introducing .......

Re: Collector Car Market – The Beginning of The End?
How about some discussion about the cost of keeping your asset (a rare car) in condition on an annual basis, for me the cost of a 'replacement as-is' insurance premiums have become back-breaking, on top of secure garaging. Fuel costs at sub-20mpg are irrelevant.

Re: Collector Car Market – The Beginning of The End?
I am sorry but I 100% disagree. If there is any sort of correction it will be in poor cars that people paid too much for. Quality cars are a not going to plummet at all. There are lots of buyers in the market and even more waiting in the wings for the market to slip back a little (maybe 10% would m...

Re: Pebble Beach 2.4S/2.2S
That 1971 2.2S was very early production (Sept 1970/) at 9113000087.
Are those prices with/without premium?
Didn't the GTO sell for only $34 million, the market is correcting?

Re: Collector Car Market – The Beginning of The End?
I've seen markets of all sorts inflate and crash many times , the 'great classic car crash' of the '90s had a car bubbling up to 100k, crashing to 30k and now if you look it was back to 100k a year ago and now people want $150k, the peaks and troughs are superimposed on a general trend of inflation(...

Re: 2.2 911S (1971) - 11 years ago.....
As I wrote somewhere else :
If that '71 S had needed new door pockets the £800 would have been a large % of the car's price, in 2014 pockets at £1000 are a small % of a car's current price. real costs meet inflation/bubble.

911 black bonnet index mark
When I had my car re-sprayed the company put a garish black on white index mark (number plate) on the bonnet where my black plate had been, where all 2.2 front plates are, I complained but they said they couldn't get flexible black any more. Construction and Use 1971 regs. as fitted original should ...
