Re: Armrest resto

RHD 2.2S. After years of reaching for the map pocket to close the door (not a good idea) I bought and fitted the passenger handle from a LHD 69-73 (New Old Stock) and now a reach across with the left hand really closes it nicely. I know the drivers door armrest is short so as to allow wild elbow act...

Factory film -early 1970s

There used to be some Youtube clips from a factory film (71/72?) showing hand building and testing, they were deleted (copyright?) and i wonder if anyone knows of where it is now?
The glory days before they employed Ralph Nader as a consultant (just joking).

Re: build time in 1970

They started to build cars for the 1971 model year (D series 911) on monday 2/sept/1070 after the usual August holiday, how long was it before a Stuttgart made car (not a Osnabruck karmann body) went out for the road test.?? Okay, so you probably meant 1970; 900 years earlier cars were not even a p...

Re: build time in 1970

Can one take off the knee pad easily ( without damaging and easy to replace)/, repair manuals always dismiss stripping interior parts in three words ' take off XYZ ' . I notice some people (Porter?) used to write that the 'D' series had the fuel pump moved from the front by the tank to the rear by t...

Re: Porsche COA

As the second owner of a 1971 D series 2.2S UK spec. with the original maroon owners booklets is it worth getting getting a COA, i always thought all came with the same spec.?

Re: Selling a 911S...

We recently sold a RHD 2.2S, it's featured in classic car magazine. Sold well below the current advertised values. Mike I have found another RHD 2.2S so the number has increased again. This one has been of the road since 1986. I will update more when I have it. Thanks Alan Greetings I might be sell...

Re: Selling a 911S...

Greetings I am putting up some photos of my car before it's spring clean (cleaning basketweave vinyl is horrible). I might be selling it, for many reasons; mainly the one of how can a retired lecturer afford to run, insure, nurture such a car. photobucket gallery http://s1273.photobucket.com/user/ro...

Re: Gauging interest: Reproduction Engine lids.

I have a related question.
One reads that all 2.2S had Aluminium engine lids and numberplate panels but my car has steel ones, yet before the respray those panels were in original paint like the rest of the car.
What is the real answer on Alu panels?

Re: Selling a 911S...

I am also thinking of selling my 2.2S, the problem is i have no idea of current values, all the adverts i see for 'S' cars have POA after them. While my car isn't perfect i don't want to sell it only to see someone spend a few thousand on 2 bits of carpets and new door pockets (are they still astron...

Re: Fuel Pump for 1973 with MFI

I have one of these on my 2.2S and it works fine. It meets the specs for the original Bosch unit in terms of flow rate (VIP for MFI) and as the MFI supply is fixed at circa 12.5 psi its 1 bar rating is fine too. http://www.glencoeltd.co.uk/walbro-tcp012-out-tank-fuel-injection-pump-1-bar/ It is als...

911 factory films

Some time ago (years) there were a series of Youtube segments from some factory film about the making and testing of the 911 during the 2.2/2.4? era, they have disappeared , probably for copyright reasons, does anyone know where I can find the film?

Re: Opinion on front spotlights

I think the main point is that at night one can drive a 911 (S in particular) at a rate ( not on UK roads of course, officer) that the main lights simply can't cope with. Some extra lighting is needed, either far better headlights with special relays or lights with brackets in the horn fittings. I s...
