Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

That's going to work out quite well Paul. That's a 73 production duck all right but word is that a few found their way onto 74MY cars so retro fitting a 74MY frame to a 73MY duck is possibly what they might even have done at the factory for such an early chassis number as yours. Result! Regards Mik...

Highfield wrote:Are there any earlier surviving RHD cars than yours Paul ?

The earliest RHD I know of is #134 which was UK suppied but is now a historic racer in Australia. Sam may know it as it was sold by Paul Stephens in 2006.

There are also two other UK coupes I know of which are earlier than Paul's.

Re: Now all 1973 built cars are tax exempt

Anyone know what the procedure is to obtain tax-free status from the DVLA for a vehicle. Is it done automatically for a vehicle registered before the cut-off date and what is required for one registered after it but built before.

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Quite right, no more of the F word here! This is the car I was chasing, in the end we were 10K apart but it was beautiful. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/Mike_Moore/mexico_zpsdcbc26ff.jpg This is how I believe the 1974 7 & 8 x15 wheel option came with the black painted centres but plain ...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Jonathan, I think it might have only been 1974 that had the chrome window switches. Are your rear window hinges and interior lights chrome? Sam, The Carrera Targa only had manual windows until the 1977 model year Carrera 3. '73 and earlier had steel rear arms, all models '74 and onwards had aluminium.

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car

Reason for my question was due to my limited 74 2.7 Carrera knowledge. For instance did production run into 1975 for the 2.7? Oh yes, the 1975 2.7 Carrera is also a very fine car. It shares the same MFI engine. However, there are just a few differentiators that make the ’74 car the one for me. The ...

If this is the one from what the new owner in Germany (I think he's a dentist!) was saying it doesn't sound like the the intention is to separate the engine. The car is by all accounts too good for that.

Re: '74 911/83 2.7 LHD

I think the problem with the 74/5 Carrera coupes is that beyond squidgy bumpers they didn't offer anything over an RS touring and that they made too many of them. Rarity and performance must combine for maximum value. Which is why the 74/5 Targa is where the smart money goes. Only 600 made in total...

Re: Cookie cutter wheels

Richard, The bottom picture is a Carrera as it has wide arches and 7" wide Fuchs at the back. The Carrera came as standard with black trim and body coloured headlamp rings for 1975 model year ('74 model year had chrome headlamp rings even with black trim) The 911S came with chrome trim as the s...

Re: Cookie cutter wheels

For the UK market the 1974 and 1975 911S was fitted as standard with M400 6x15 Fuchs wheels, only the base 911 had cookie cutters.

The USA had cookie cutters on the 911S, I'm not certain about other countries.

So depends on where the car was originaly sold.
