Re: Possible Porsche Tractor in Hokkaido Japan
Well Spring has finally sprung in Hokkaido and the covers have come off the mystery tractor. It did turn out - as Ian suggested - to be a Standard Star and definitely a two cylinder, and I believe 1961 will be correct. The plate attached to the right hand side shows the 219 designation and a chassis...

Re: Possible Porsche Tractor in Hokkaido Japan
Thank you Ian. That is a little bit reassuring to know. Very little will come from Japan, of course. But having said that, I have now heard - just since mentioning this one to a couple of people - that there is another one somewhere in the district. Allegedly in good running order and still being us...

Re: Possible Porsche Tractor in Hokkaido Japan
Well, if people like you DID get out more Chris, the rest of us would never know anything. Thanks very much indeed for the prompt response. Having googled them both, I agree they look like the prime candidates. I think he is hoping to begin restoring it once spring comes and he can move it into the ...

Possible Porsche Tractor in Hokkaido Japan
Hi all It has been some months since I have been able to look at DDK, but I am now back at home in Hokkaido and looking forward to renewing participation. A Japanese friend who runs a construction company locally was cleaning up a site prior to commencement of work the other day and came across an o...

I've just tracked down a bloke living somewhere between Tokyo and Osaka who owns a red 1967 912 Targa - with the soft rear window. I found him from a video clip on Japanese YouTube which claimed it was the only soft window targa in Japan. I disabused him of that, and sent him pics of my 1967 911S so...

If there are any still about, I have found a couple more Japanese early 911 owners who I'm sure would love one. I get lots of comments about mine when P-car people see it on the rear grille. Am meeting a new guy - a baker - next weekend who (apparently) has an immaculate 73 911S. This would be a ver...

Yes, still in Hokkaido. Shaken up a bit and now fully appreciative of just how flexible a single story, timber framed bungalow style house can be. A three metre tsunami took out some boats and cars in the local fishing port about 700 metres down the hill from here, but no loss of life locally and no...

Thanks again for all the helpful replies. I have signed up for the classic audi forum and am currently in a queue to be properly accepted as a member. In the meantime, I finally managed to get an appointment at the Sapporo Audi Centre, which put diagnostic gear on the car and tell me: They can detec...

Didn't appear to have anything to indicate ZF on it. Filling was through a hole in the bottom (!!) of the box, behind the drain plug. Oil had to be pumped in through a flexible tube with the engine running until no more would go in and it began running out. Not sure exactly how that worked, but it s...

Firstly, many, many thanks to all who responded. All comments were helpful and I will now be making contact with the two groups suggested. In the meantime, the good news is that I THINK (still cautiously) that the issue might have been resolved by an oil change. Thanks Mike. It was all quite a produ...

Audi Forum?
My winter transport while the snow remains deep and the P cars are hibernating here is a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro 2.4 litre. It has a 5-speed auto/tiptro box which has just started to exhibit signs of some wear and tear. It is barely noticeable, but had just started giving a small occasional "shudd...

Henry Ask all the questions you want to the guys at: porsche964@yahoogroups.co.uk A great store of knowledge there, starting with stock lists of points to look for in a used car. I'm away from my base and not using my own computer at the moment, so can't immediately provide a lot of advice. But I ha...
