Re: windscreen woes
OMG where did they get that dreadful music emerge from, must have nicked it from the BBC, bang on! I know what would happen if I tried to fit one myself, on the last push and thump the screen would split from corner to corner. I have fitted a couple in my past but that was Ford Anglia days and not £...

windscreen woes
Just back from the 49th 356 international meet in sunny Portugal. Indeed all was sunny apart from my windscreen that got smashed. I have located a replacement screen but I need a good guy to install it. Anybody have any recommendations for expert installers in the Southern area???

who knows
The speedometer on my late '85 Carrera SSE is kaput so I thought I would find out the cost of a new one. I couldn't make much sense out of Design 911 website so I thought I'd phone them. Unfortunately their line was engaged all day. No problem but in the meantime I'll see what the main dealer wants ...

Re: engine rebuild
Holy Moley, it's only five weeks before the 356 International at Estoril and I've got an engine and gearbox less motor car. And the engine isn't even back together yet, although the bottom end is now all buttoned up after getting the engine case back from being re-machined. However, there are still ...

Re: The DDK Nationals
Following the initial enquiry about having such an event, it is quite overwhelming to see such enthusiasm and some firm progress. I must apologise for not stepping up to offer my organisational 5 cents worth but I find myself on the committee of a local classic car club which makes life rather busy ...

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53572054165_7977cd4493_k.jpg DSCN3022 by Graham Kerr , on Flickr I was asked on email what had I done to the 915 trans and I think previously I only glossed over what was done, so here's what was needed to make the box roadworthy. I knew the trans wasn't a happy ...

Re: engine rebuild
Hi Roy, thanks for the kind words. I've rather made my own problems by being greedy. I should have been happy with the old 2.4 engine and gearbox but it was a bit leaky and the box was definitely on borrowed time. I should have gone for a standard 3.2 but greed for horsepower sent me down this rocky...

The DDK Nationals
As I sit here on this very damp February afternoon dreaming about Porsche engines in general and mine in particular as it's still in a thousand pieces, a small thought wandered through the grey matter. Why is there not a huge gathering of all the great folks who make up the webby world of DDK. Organ...

Re: engine rebuild
Oh dear, another slight problem with the build. Gary had just completely finished rebuilding the carbs with all new parts including big chokes, the old ones were an absolute sod to remove, a whole day in the ultrasonic bath moving the carb bodies around and around just to get them released. Graded t...

Re: LA Lit meet 2024
OK, the kit on sale in the Hilton is a bit overpriced but it's neat looking at all the stuff. Then you don't take Stoddards crew bus round the shops, you go in your renter, that way you can spend as much time as you do or don't want at each of the shops, eat all the free grub, have time to chat with...

Swap meet
Stretchy n me cluttered off to a VW swap meet over at Maidstone yesterday, just to see if there might have been some tasty hidden Porsche parts there - there wasn't. However, at least himself was able to give the kettle a couple of 125mph blasts to shake out the spiders. So where and when is the fam...

Re: LA Lit meet 2024
Us lot a bit East of you are doing the 2025 lit meet but missing this year cos we have a few European jaunts to take in. However I'm sure there is a party who advertises in the 356 Registry mag who does these. I'm not sure if YNZ does the big diagrams, can't find the add in the latest mag but I'll h...

Re: engine rebuild
There is always something that stops the flow. You have to stop and sort it, like a tight bearing and this time it was a minor issue to the engine cases. I had selected an aluminium sump plate kit for the engine, no, it won't make it go any faster it's just a bit of bling you can see if you happen t...

Re: Gearbox oil
Following further recommendations, my 915 with Quaife LSD is now filled with Fuchs Titan Race synthetic 75/90. I haven't an engine in the car yet so I'm afraid I'm unable to give any performance update, but I'm hoping it will be fine.
