Re: DDK Transport of a spare wheel

Perhaps ask the consignor if they're willing to pack it in such as way to properly protect the valve, or go and get it yourself?

The reality is that a Shiply sub-contractor is unlikely to be any more or less careful than any other carrier.

Re: When I'm Prime Minister...

Not sure that 56mph is slower than the trucks - all UK / EU ones have been limited to 90kmh since ‘08, something that at the time was retrospectively applied to older vehicles as well. Aside from the odd rogue I guess.

Re: How to surface finish fine tone woods for paint?

There's a guy on YouTube called Dashner Design with some furniture restoration content, some interesting techniques that might be helpful as far the prep stages go (although I don't recall any paint).

Re: Joys of old car motoring

Just to mention: don't anyone be thinking that a nominally sized fire extinguisher will save a car from burning. There was a report a while back on impactbumpers.com of a 911 that caught fire, including video showing the owner's quick realisation and response plus subsequent help from around a dozen...

This seems like a great idea. But freeze with what?
Apologies for the late reply, not been here for a while.

Are you searching for it with that spelling Graham (try Baden-baden, as that might be the reason)?

The work load is through the roof at your local sorting office at the moment - considerably higher than Christmas, a level not previously seen in Royal Mail history.

Re: Road trip to the Arctic Circle 2020

You’ll need to recalibrate a little in planning the Norwegian driving - you can find ten hours’ driving only gets you two hundred miles up the road. It’s a combination of: traffic typically no more than 45-50MPH on trunk routes, the roads usually follow the footprint of the mountains so often very t...

Re: OT: shipping lithium batteries

You're having problems because lithium batteries - even just a single cell, loose or contained in equipment - are regulated as dangerous goods under the carriage regulations. Most carriers including Royal Mail would accept if it wasn't failed / damaged / warranty return. Although it's still possible...
