Perhaps ask the consignor if they're willing to pack it in such as way to properly protect the valve, or go and get it yourself?
The reality is that a Shiply sub-contractor is unlikely to be any more or less careful than any other carrier.

Not sure that 56mph is slower than the trucks - all UK / EU ones have been limited to 90kmh since ‘08, something that at the time was retrospectively applied to older vehicles as well. Aside from the odd rogue I guess.

There's a guy on YouTube called Dashner Design with some furniture restoration content, some interesting techniques that might be helpful as far the prep stages go (although I don't recall any paint).

Just to mention: don't anyone be thinking that a nominally sized fire extinguisher will save a car from burning. There was a report a while back on impactbumpers.com of a 911 that caught fire, including video showing the owner's quick realisation and response plus subsequent help from around a dozen...

You're having problems because lithium batteries - even just a single cell, loose or contained in equipment - are regulated as dangerous goods under the carriage regulations. Most carriers including Royal Mail would accept if it wasn't failed / damaged / warranty return. Although it's still possible...
