Re: Rear control arm bolt 69 912 (lwb)

use the parts diagrams on design 911, then you can see who is correct. The bolt length in the diagrams excludes the head, litterally the length of the thread

Re: The old question of oil quantity

ive noticed, it typically takes 11.5ish - 13ish L for a full oil change from the sump and tank for those with the sill oil pipes, and how long it was allowed to drain. Of course every car is different. As everybody else has written trust the dipstick over the gauge, and half way between min and max ...

Re: Gearbox oil level

.if on the floor, jack up one side, loosen oil drain plug on side, jack back down so car is on all 4 wheels and "level" and if oil comes out then let it run till it stops then put the plug back in, and torque. IF no oil comes out, then jack back up on one side, add some oil, and then jack ...

Re: Any experts on setting the timing on CIS cars?

best way to check is to smoke test. Have a mate who vapes, pull an injector out put a pipe between your mate and the injector hole and watch where the vape comes out.... your throttle body could also be set incorrectly. Run through the measurements for setting the throttlebody and microswitch which ...

Re: Petrol Tank Replacement

do buy a new seal, also i would paint the new tank and seal around the edge with some silicone then stonechip over both, then fit with new washers, and a new rubber fuel breather, and new fuel sender gasket (and/or new fuel sender). easy job overall.

Re: Any experts on setting the timing on CIS cars?

Hi yes, i know this one quite well. Your vaccum line on your dizzy is a retard....5 ATDC or 0 TDC, take your vac off PLUG IT, time it to 35 deg @ 5000 rpm (or 38 @ 6000 if you can manage it, 35@5000 is close enough), then just let the timing at idle fall back to wherever it will wants, this will acc...

Re: plug change

I use the tool, that comes in the tool kit for the spark plugs, if i did not have one, i would use a bit of rubber hose to turn them in by hand then torque in 2 stages to around 25nm. The rubber hose will slip if it starts to cross thread. Good tip straight out of an older haynes manual!!

Re: 911 sc oil light

Seems he changed the oil to fully synthetic 5/30, it’s only got 60k on the clock so hopefully no need for a rebuild just yet, but I assume the oil spec to be the problem? Not necessarily, I have never tried a 5w30 in a 911 engine myself, im sure someone has and will chime in, but PROBABLY a tad thi...

WTD : Torque Converter Sportomatic 911

I'm looking for a torque converter from a sportomatic, i know there are a few differences, I havent fully looked into it, but just let me know what you have (year, part number, condition and price) and I will look up the part numbers and see what fits. I can if necessary repair mine (weld ring gear ...

Re: 911 sc oil light

I personally run a 20w50 in a 911 engine with lowish oil pressure which is realistically coming apart in 10k to 20k miles, 15w 40 for the same with good oil pressure. I would use different oil (i.e semi or etc) in a rebuilt engine, but for one that is say good for 10 to 20k more a mineral is absolut...
